New ROTS Trailer — Page 3

I have to agree. I think the HD camera actually makes blue screen effects look far worse. I still disagree with the decision and believe film would have been more suitable. But I will say that the effects in the trailer still looked better than AOTC's.

As for Grievous, I have one theory one why he was introduced. Obviously I agree with the action figure and Vader origin arguments. Note: I have not seen any spoilers, so this might sounds stupid. Samuel L. Jackson made a comment somewhere that he asked GL prior to Ep III to make sure his character did something integral to the plot before being offed. Perhaps GL needed to appease SLJ by creating a powerful villain for him to beat.

yes yes we know warbler.

anyway i though that the trailer was fantastic, however i am make and offical prediction that 80% of the SW fans that see it will not like it and that arguements will breakout hours after the first veiwing of the movie.

CG not as choppy or with as much of a "sore thumb" quality. But who knows how the final film will really look. I thought it was interesting that they had Vader standing there with his arms crossed at the end implying that he really does have some sort of role in this film instead of just being the end of the film.

Anyone know the running time of this movie?

It's too early to say the running time because the film is probably still being edited. I'm hoping that it's over 2 and a half hours. You can't fit everything episode III has to tell us in the running time of an average Star Wars movie.
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

^^ That's what I thought....Especially the Palps being sidious thing...The hidden lightsabre ect!

Still looks good though!

okay.. so i've watched this trailer about 20 times in a row and got out everything i could....

we all know on this board that i am a prequel hater in every sense of the word but i will give you my honest opinion....

first the trailer was amazing! Lucas knows how to make his trailers gives us enough eye candy with also some of the best diaglogue in the movie (which also in a way ruins the movie because then we are left with no memorable lines...) but anyway i thought the trailer was really well done... no arguments there...

I am most definatly excited about this movie and i think it has a chance at becoming the best prequel so far... however... here's where the movie falls apart for me....

1 - acting - Hayden's first line in that trailer could not sound anymore forced (lets be honest about that), SLJ i still cant see as a jedi and always stands out (personal opinion)

2- CGI - although it looks nice you can see they've even used it for floors, walls, furniture... what happened to props or sets? and because of his love of CGI im sure we can expect some sort of cheesy scene like the diner in AOTC.... :gag:

3 - Yoda Fighting again - says it all

4 - Palpatine Fighting - just hope they don't mimic yoda

those are my major complaints about the movie....
im not gonna say im not excited because i am... for what reason... maybe just because i know star wars is done after this... which is a good thing....
do i think the trilogies will mesh together??
even though i havent seen the movie yet.... not at all...
they have a completely different look alltogether (unless Lucas explains why that is in the movie)

so i hope and pray this movie will be enjoyable... i would love to watch one of these prequels on dvd once i buy it.... but in hopes of not overhyping it... im going to play it safe and think the worst...

either way Lucas has finally finished Star Wars

I hate clueless people. You can't tell crap. You remind me of these idiots that complain about something being CG, that turns out not to be CG at all. There were 72 sets built Episode III. There are more miniatures in the film than were used in all of the original trilogy. You don't believe me, go look it up.

ok ok simmer, lets not get out of hand, i agree with you joe but i knwo from lots of experience that your just going to create a huge arguement for nothing. and trust me when i say i have had that arguement many times on this site to no avail, ppl are not going to losen up their opinions even if you offer dozens of good points so might as well not try.

I agree, this thread is to discuss the new trailer, not bash the prequels.

who said you had too?

If you disagree with me, that's ok.

I'm sorry if my comments offended anyone. Maybe I just should have said that I don't like them. Perhaps saying that they stank was too harsh.

now, lets just all calm down. No fighting and no flames please.

(To HOTROD) i was refering to both of you. but just let it go, its just not worth fighting over.

hey one of the things i really liked in the trailer was the drums beat they used, and dont you think it would be really cool if the pali actually used that screech they had in the trailer everytime he made a big swingor a critical blow in a fight.

i think it would add a new level of fright to the movies and to him, making him more scary and evil then b4 also the drum beat would jsut add so much to the battles rather then a ochastra playing. if anyone has seen the new eps of battle star they would know what i mean.

Agreed.

Talk about having nearly every single spoiler that I've caught (I wasn't trying to avoid or look for them)confirmed. With the exception of some blanks, I feel like I know everything.

Maybe I'll read the novel before I see it. I read the novel for I so that I could just take it all in when I saw it. That, and I was vastly looking forward to it (weren't we all). Some of the scenes worked better even. You know the DVD scene where they shuttle to Palpy's office once they get to Coruscant? Worthless in the film, had a wonderful moment in the book where Anakin feels uncomfortable around the senator. I thought it was a nice bit of foreshadowing. Allowed me to spoil the film for others minutes before it started. I was actually asked who died. I made sure they wanted to know, then told them. One thing I must admit, Episode I opening day was a blast, even more so the the SE releases. Episode II had Stormtroopers. That's it. Modesto sucks compared to San Jose. ^_^

I'm still anticipating the release, but I just have a felling it won't be what I'd hoped for when I saw Episode I. I almost feel like I'm looking more forward to Palpatine vs. Yoda than I am Anakin vs. Obi-wan. It shouldn't be that way.

BTW, I think there is a shot of Grievous about to fight Obi-wan. I could be wrong though.

Anyone else think, "You were the Chosen One!!!" was kind of stupid sounding. Hopefully in sounds better in the film. That and the swashbukeling of Obi-wan and Anakin. That was odd.

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

I must also agree that the new trailer showed too much.

But did it...It could all be a master-stroke by Lucas to lead us to believe we've seen too much, but actually there's a lot more to see!!

Or maybe not!

New here.
And even though it's pretty much a prequel bashing forum / 'bring back the original movie' I though this was
an awesome trailer. I love both EP1 and EP2 and i'll even go as far as wanting Lucas to rewrite 4,5 and 6 so that
it molds perfectly with the rest and makes it more logical. The 'holes' would be closed doing so. We all know after EP3 we will be like : "Huh! Why this then? Why that? What about some backstory?" and the like. And Lucas can change the original as long as he wants, I loved the changes he made.

Now, i'm not a Lucas-follower and I don't even write on sw.com (too much kids, too much omg! L33t!.. well you get the picture) but I love starwars. I still have those old VHS : Like the Biggs scene in A new Hope, Sandstorm in Return of the Jedi. Well you know, the first edit and all the special editions and the DVDs. I love Starwars like all of you. Glad to join.

Enough of me,
That trailer gives me goosebump. It gives me so much anticipation. More than when I first saw that teaser for Episode 1 and 2.
The music fits perfectly, the cuts are well done, shows just enough (that we all know anyway) while leaving the emotion aside.
May 19 2005 should be a holiday =) It's the movie we've all been waiting for... for years.
