The Academy Awards considers them short films.

I don’t think that matters in the scope of this discussion.

I’ve seen it. All 7 minutes. It’s not a movie.

Let’s see…

New Oxford American Dictionary said:

movie |ˈmo͞ovē|

noun chiefly N. Amer.

a story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images and shown in a theater or on television; a motion picture.

  • Story or event recorded by a camera? Check.
  • Set of moving images? Check.
  • Shown in a theater or on television? Check.

So each episode of the O’Reilly Factor is a movie?

See this.

So yes, every single thing on tv is a movie.

Next time you’re watching The OC with someone (that’s still a thing with kids, right?), ask them how they are enjoying the movie. See how that goes.

Well, you may not want to use it in casual speak. Just like most people just say “phone” when what they’re talking about is a “smartphone”.

So is the video I made of myself and Darth Id double-teaming yhwx’s mom a movie? We did screen it in a theater for critics.

I think what you meant to say was mobile cellular telephone.

Ah, so a television show is a “smartmovie.” Makes perfect sense.

Ranked worse than Star Wars — Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Ouch.

Black Sabbath (1963) – 8/10

I’m a little dismayed that Lawrence of Arabia doesn’t get the ten and Duck Dodgers does.

Ip Man (2008) - 7/10

In terms of technical stuff, like camerawork, fight choreography, music, special effects and direction, it was fantastic. Donnie Yen put in a great performance as the lead, and I liked most of the characters. I did feel as if it may have worked better as a full on biography of Ip Man, instead of an action film, as the text interludes felt very out of place. Also, having the main character be a super powerful badass made fearing for him in the fight scenes very hard. The film was also quite cliche. The story, while not groundbreaking, was adequate for the film, and overall I thought it was very good.

Not enough people read the EU.

Once upon a time, a man was attacked by a vampire bird. He was sucked to death. The vampire bird killed him at last.

Picked up a few of the Best Buy James Bond steelbooks today and watched On Her Majesty’s Secret Service with the commentary (I also got From Russia With Love and You Only Live Twice). Very enjoyable experience. Peter Hunt sounds like a lovely man.

Cast Away (2000) - 6/10

Mostly enjoyable. Tom Hanks was pretty good. I hated how the film skipped ahead four years, as I think by showing those four years Chuck Noland could have been better developed.
