I really don’t understand what’s awkward about it.
The idea is that the more Disney/Lucasfilm discusses a new OOT release, the more they will have to publicly discuss George’s wishes regarding that mess, what is/isn’t canon. The ways in which they could promote the OOT are a bit of a diss to the later versions.
LOL, but we know that’s pretty silly… After handing Lucas 4 billion bucks and then him turning around and saying “I sold my children to the slavers” I don’t think they have much interest in his wishes anymore!
No, but some fans consider him to be a magical deity. Disney, JJ, and Kathleen have generally avoided discussing him and their lack of interest in his idea for the sequel trilogy. Kind of an “if you don’t have anything nice to say…” type of situation, I think.
