Well, but it’s not. No version looks like that and it’s not composited with that in mind (they’re separate elements, so that couldn’t have happened ‘naturally’).

The star destroyer is most likely red because it is from a faded Eastman print. It’s a nice idea, though. 😃

Anyway, I think some of the results so far have been close enough that rotoscoping really isn’t necessary. I agree that it wouldn’t exactly be “wrong” as it’s all from the original print (so long as no evidence of the rotoscoping is visible), but I think people have come up with some useable versions.
