I didn’t get the feeling that the movie took place over months. While Empire is not a rushed movie, everything to me suggests that everything in the movie happens on a short time scale. Not having the hyperdrive is like not being able to drive on the interstate: it’s doable, but just a little bit slower (minutes/hours in the interstate example, days/weeks for hyperspace). We didn’t seem much of Luke’s training, but it seemed very intense and rushed to me. So, there’s my reasoning for a couple of weeks.
