I think its ok, it looks poor compared with Ep2 poster

Not bad. The giant slightly offset Vader head is very reminiscent of the first Star Wars poster.

I think it looks pretty nifty, when does it go on sale?

Edit: I just looked and it says March 21.

It looks alright. It just might work in tricking audiences into thinking that Episode III will actually be a good film even though we all know it won't be. Less annoying than Eps 1 and 2 possibly but it will not be a particularly good film.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

You can't say that for sure. AoTC was a lot better than TMP, and RotS will finally have Vader and the story we've been wanting told for 28 years now.

But... I'm not sure if it will follow the OT pattern and have the middle movie as the best though. If that's the case then I might be a little worried. But still the poster is good.

Seeing that Special Edition poster for Empire again makes me wonder just how many years ago Lucas planned on pasting Ian McDiarmid into the hologram scene. It seemed like a huge goof for him to be on that poster in '97.

Yeah, but the painting of Luke Vs Vader for the ROTJ poster is actually from Empire (note the blaster on luke's belt - carbon freezing chamber scene) so I wouldn't read too much into it.

War does not make one great.

That sucks. I can't see the posters because the link is from a personal website, which is blocked by my school's net filter.

I'm just thankful this poster is better than that terrible teaser poster with the cartoony looking Anakin with his cape flowing into a sad representation of Vader's helmet. Blech!

The fan made teaser poster that depicted an effeminate, pouting Anakin standing in a hallway with the image of Darth Vader reflected in the floor was better than the official teaser poster. Surprising? Not really.

Any chance you've got a link to that one? I haven't seen it.

The trouble I'll have is Fox only lets you have one poster per screen, so thus I will have to display this first before I can bring it home. BLAST THEM!

I wonder how long this will be released after the second batch of teaser stuff that is supposed to come out next week.

My guess would be first or second week of April.

I Found this on AICN

I'm the webmaster of the unofficial Dutch Star Wars fan website www.Sith.nl

Many people think the new Drew Struzan Revenge of the Poster has been altered by Lucasfilm. We contacted Mr. Struzan and asked him about this.

This is his reply:

The original design did go through the normal incarnations. The finish is two paintings combined as I designed them. Someday the drawings and paintings will be seen but this is the poster and the design approved by Lucasfilm.

So thats why it doesn't quite fit with the rest.
Fucking Lucas, he just can't leave things alone

But where are R2 and threepio? I feel gypped.

BTW, lets not de-evolve this thread into a "but the movie will still suck thread"

Notice that the films devoid of R2 and Threepio in their posters are historically the best films in the Trilogy. Maybe it's something like the odd/even curse of the StarTrek films.

It's not bad. At least the official poster is worlds ahead of that sad excuse for a teaser. Really, did they honestly think that not so hidden image was clever?

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

It wouldn't have bothered anyone I don't think if it had actually looked like Vader.

It still would have bothered me. They did such a great job with the Jake Lloyd teaser poster with Vader's shadow cast on the Tatooine hut and they've been trying to top that. And failing miserably. Even if it was a photo-perfect vision of Vader's helmet, I still wouldn't have like it. The concept was just corny as hell.

LOL I'd forgotten about that.

When I went to see Episode 1 in theatres, I kept expecting to see Ankikan cast Vader's shadow somewhere.
