I must say SPLENDID!!!!! I love it.

The old stuff is better than the new in my opinion! I love the part where Anthony Daniels describes where C3P0 comes from and it is not from Anakin.
Go thru all the old stuff and you will see how Lucas adjust the story as it comes along. The prequels werent even made up then........ not even thought of.

baby hum very nice video quality and sound quality. Very good job!! Are there documenteries of Star Wars aswell as Return Of The Jedi?

Thanks a bunch!!!!
Do, or do not. There is no try.

I'm trying to decide on the next two releases at the moment. I might even put it to the vote. I'm also hoping to get my Laserdisc player serviced this week so i can make a start on the new captures of the 'Making Of' documentaries (the Japanese versions i originally captured that Dr.Gonzo released as an excellent 2 disc set). I'm hoping to release my next title in the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

Description:

The struggle between heroes and villains and the influence of a higher force are the essence of mythology and resonate within all cultures, providing storytellers with a natural framework for spinning tales. In this extensive interview with Emmy-winning journalist Bill Moyers, director George Lucas reveals how the characters and themes in Star Wars were conceived and shaped by these timeless influences.

Lucas talks about how his quest with Star Wars to tell old myths in new ways was inspired by his mentor, Joseph Campbell. Illustrated with extended film clips from the Star Wars saga, including Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Moyers and Lucas discuss how the continuing battle between the forces of light and darkness is best waged when we believe in a force greater than ourselves. Ultimately, the director says, Star Wars is a search for personal transformation and the key to this journey is a deep faith and an appreciation for friendship, honor, and trust.

Hi there Babyhum Vader,

This is so cool. I got this on DVD about 2 months ago and shared a few copies. Well, the quality was hot garbage so I ran it through some filters and slapped on a menu and sent off a few more copies. I'm very interested in seeing the quality of your version. Capping it off digital broadcast versus VHS-to-DVD and all the noise that entails. Once again, my hat is off to you.

The interview is actually quite fascinating.

BH releases another rare gem!

A million thanks Rikter.

Here's a small clue to a future babyhum release.

bh004?

Hope you all enjoy bh002 (comments gratefully received) and bh003 when it's posted.

My Laserdisc player has just been serviced so i'll hopefully get to work soon on those NEW 'Making Of...' documentary transfers. I'll keep you posted.

bh004 sounds supremely excellent! I actually have this special on VHS, but it's probably in SLP/EP mode. Let me know if you need it for any reason, though, and I'll see what I can do.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Cheers Reverend.

It's actually residing on DV cassette at the moment as that is how i used to record from digital satellite. Now it just goes directly to the DVD recorder.

It will possibly be bh004. I may find something else ready to go before then. Whatever it is i'm sure you won't be disappointed.

baby hum,

question for you...i downloaded the clapper board disc of yours and was wondering if its a pal disc. the info says pal in the video format but i have all ntsc equipment (my dvd player appears to be able to output in pal, but the tv only has ntsc) and it plays fine on my dvd player and tv.

so is it a pal disc and my player is just converting it or is it ntsc?

By the way Maker, how does the Tivo2Go software work? What kind of quality do you get?

Just got finished watching the Horizon special and, I've gotta say, that's one of the most informative special effects docs I've ever seen. Thanks very much, babyhum, for releasing that!

Hi Baby Hum,

First off, your documentaries are awesome! I just watched bh002 and what can I say? "Wow!" These documentaries are quite simply invaluable. I'm so glad that you are taking the time and effort to share these with the rest of us.

Anyways, I'm a regular poster of Star Wars goodies on usenet. If at all possible I like to get the creator's permission when I can before I post anything. Therefore, I am asking your permission to post bh001 and bh002 on alt.binaries.starwars.

I always include all .nfo files and full descriptions with everything that I post. Credit is always given.

Thanks in advance.

Dark One,
I've seen your posts on the Usenet (and have downloaded a couple myself). Of course you can post them. Just ensure the NFO's are there and they remain in their ISO format.

Glad you enjoyed bh002. bh003 and bh004 should be available soon.

My Laserdisc player came back from the engineers yesterday, and i've started on the BRAND NEW transfers of the Japanese 'Making Of' Documentaries. Who knows, they may be bh005, 6, 7 & 8. But then again i might keep you waiting.

Keep the comments coming everyone. All criticism (good or bad) warmly received.

I think the Empire special is some of the best quality I have EVER seen from a VHS. I need to get the US version of your VCR What was the source for that?

Btw...i'm recording the 60 Minutes on DVD this sunday.

Fantastic. I hope one of you is going to be anal enough to record the whole show (titles and credits) and encode it in the highest quality

The Clapperboard special was actually recorded on Betamax and not VHS back in 1982 (It was the repeat showing. The original broadcast was in 1980. How come I can remember this stuff and not what i had for breakfast). Back then Betamax was of far superior quality than VHS (some would say it still is). The Horizon special and all of my other recordings from that era, about 20 hours worth, were also on Betamax (which have since been transferred to DV just to preserve them). In fact if you are lucky enough to find a good condition Betamax machine with stereo sound and decent inputs, grab it and ditch your VHS. Having said that I hope you're all moving over to DVD recorders and TiVo. Useless piece of information: Betamax was never designed for video. It was originally supposed to be an audio format allowing for multi track recording. I used VHS for a year and then moved over to recording on DV using my Digicam for the Episode I and II era stuff. Then a year and a half ago I invested in the DVD recorder.

If you are going to buy a new VHS to transfer your stuff, buy a Panasonic and make sure it has, and you use, an S-Video output. It's no good being cheap if you're preserving your archives!

On the subject of covers for the releases, let your artistic juices flow. I don't have any plans to make any. Please feel free to post the links to the covers here and maybe i'll name the best ones the OFFICIAL cover.

Keep posting your comments and questions and i'll do my best to answer them.

Babyhum,

Are you going to start releasing more of your TV stuff from that era now? To be honest, I'd love to be able to see more of that rare stuff than the Japanese laserdiscs because we already have versions of those floating around.

I've always known Beta was superior to VHS but I'm really astounded by the quality. But I have to say, I look at some of the VHS tapes that I had from back in that era (early 80's) and I can't believe how much better the quality was then. Sad how it's all gone downhill

I've already done some of my own transfers and am waiting for someone to help me out with distributing.

But thanks for your additions! Keep up the great work!
