Lucas could have shot Ian doing the scene on the Jedi set back in '82 if it was really bothering him that much at the time. Not trying to match his ROTJ look for the SE was just lazy.

And preferring the version we grew up watching is kind of whole point of this site, especially as it has been constantly, officially, denied to us in acceptable quality for home video in the 21st century.
