I hate people who go around claiming certain mental disorders aren’t real.
“ADHD, ADD, Apergers, all fucking nonsense.”
Yeah, okay, go let the actual scientists and psychologists know that you; Isaac Plumbo the burger flipper, figured it all out.
Of course they are real, but when a child is doing random shit and not doing his homework, doesn’t mean he has ADHD, which most parents immediately think.
My friend is a psychologist. He has parents come to him all the time with their kids who are failing all their classes and they want a paper about ADD or ADHD, but in reality, the kids are just lazy brats.
And this is true for 90% of people who tell you they have ADD, ADHD, OCD or some other disorder like that. And that’s bullshit, because that then just cements the idea that people with those disorders are just lazy fakers more.
Not sure about 90%, but I will say that ADHD is probably overdiagnosed. And there’s also a problem with people diagnosing themselves with something for attention. But to say that these things just straight up don’t exist is ridiculous.
