and for suggestions, always use the gate weave cliché every faneditor uses. And if you want to make scenes even more authentic, try adding white boxes over moving objects, and GOUT looking spacecraft, and for far-away-but-you-can-see-a-human-walking scenes, I suggest making them look animated (from ROTJ) or use a stop-motion effect (ESB and subtly in ANH), also make sure the blue blobs that edges out the people, cut the crossguard, if you want to, and make it very thick with the cores being bigger and smaller in scenes, and keep the cyan-ANH colored sabers. those are a bunchful of items you need to recreate to make a good and authentic fanedit, also decrease the old character’s ageing, including Ackbar.
and even more authenticity, make the colors be more similar of a technicolor print. add some print flickering, the crawl will have some distortion due to the film’s age, the duel will have animated matte-snow, and the backgrounds for people either be a matte, or a distorted perspective similar to ANH’s cell bay door, give some bit of character’s continuity mistakes, only visually. the Han Dies scene needs to have a matte line on the bridge, with an animated Han Solo falling, similar to ESB (if you look closely enough) holograms will have a very sliced edge, blasters will be on continuity of the OT, some non-sensical blurring on the top and bottom edge to give it that “I recorded this with a paravision with bad 35mms.” feel. Less len’s flare, characters shadows will have a blueish tint to signify it has been recorded with a blue screen, even more flickering, The iconic shot of Rey’s landspeeder passing by the destroyed Star Destroyer will have a painting-like matte, moving characters will be slightly translucent due to the effects at the time, even more gate weaving on character’s Greedo-like subtitles, my keyboard and my hand are breaking from writing this, however, this is what it takes if you want to make it as close as to how the OT would look like.
this is a big suggestion comment.
