FYI, here’s the original version of the podrace announcers:
That is literally scary. It looks like something out of a low budget ripoff of Star Wars.
TFA?
TFA didn’t have a low budget…Say what you will about other aspects of the film but a $200 million budget is in no way small. Stop it.

I’m not bothered… Got nothing to say to supposed original trilogy fans that like anything other than the uot

How open minded of you. God forbid someone actually like a movie based on its merits.

Indeed. What a textbook example of “No True Scotsman”.
Some people like TFA, some people don’t, both can be fans of the OT. Same as the PT. Crazy, I know.

So just because you like something other than the OT that means you don’t like the OT?
Yep…this is what this site has been missing.

Confirmed SW fundamentalist and admitted troll.
You’re just climaxing at the thought of receiving a ban, aren’t you?
This is quite a day in OT.com's history.
Yay, we can see the front page again.

Where were you in '77?
^ It’s worth noting that until the Kepler probe started discovering such planets, many astronomers believed that for mathematics reasons, a planet couldn’t orbit both stars in a binary system in a stable orbit.
The universe is stranger than we can suppose, and all that.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Can’t wait until they find a triple sun system. 😃

That’s why I love science. Every time we think we have it figured out, boom. Arsenic-based life, or some other such weird discovery that turns everything we thought we knew upside-down.

I’m seeing comparisons to Tatooine purely because of the binary sun.
Do not forget it’s the size of Jupiter, rather than a Desert planet. I’m still waiting for the Earth sized discoveries before I make analogies to Tatooine.

Lol it’s not a scientific analogy. It’s just a “hey cool, this planet has two Suns like Tattooine.”
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

I’m still trying to figure out why “the size of Jupiter” and “desert planet” are by definition mutually exclusive…?
well it is a gas giant

Okay so now that you’ve forced me to do outside research, it looks like what is believed to be the biggest known rocky planet is 2.35x Earth’s radius, while Jupiter is 11x, and there are some theories about the upper limits of terrestrial-planets’ mass/size. So maybe flametitan knew all that, but really, he should spell out his reasoning a little more.
I figured it’d be common knowledge.
I barely know astronomy, actually.
EDIT: Congratulations for learning something new today, though. It’s always nice to see people learn new things.
I would be astonished if this indicates anything at all, but in the spirit of reporting any and every little change in the OT’s official web presence, I’d like to throw it out there that I’ve just noticed that the poster for the original Star Wars on IMDB has been switched to a different OT-era style. The poster they had originally was already one from '77, so this isn’t really evidence of them walking back the SE like a lot of the stuff I’ve seen pointed out purportedly is, but it struck me as odd enough to be worth mentioning.
How does IMDb work anyway? Do people there have insider knowledge?

Can’t believe I never noticed this before…

It indicates nothing. Various TV & movie pages on IMDb have their main images changed every now and then.

Lucas’ halfassed approach to the SEs reveals itself once again.
Fuckin clowns.

I would hate a Star Wars anime.
That’s racist!
Genreist certainly. I try to avoid soaps and team sports. I couldn’t even watch Robot Wars because it felt like the robots were hurting themselves for the entertainment of humans. But many of the sci-fi shows I enjoy have elements of a soap and I like sports in movies. Despite the stupid looking aliens and the comedy deaths I thought the Pod race was one of the most Star Warsy bits of the prequels. I would watch a Star Wars anything for a few episodes. I’m really enjoying Rebels despite the cutesy art style and the eighties style morality messages. I need my spectacle with enough narrative that I feel that the event isn’t current and my narratives with enough spectacle for the same reason. I find people in distress that I can’t help anxiety making even if they are fictional.
