Serenity (2005) – B
I watched through Firefly over the past several days and I just got to the movie. I liked it a lot.
One overpowering notion that I’ve had is that it felt like the plot was kind of rushed to squish it into a feature film (as there was no more series for them to finish the story). There wasn’t as much explanation for certain things that I was hoping for either.
Anyway, I enjoyed it, and I think it was an alright tie-up to the series.
I actually think Serenity was the best movie based on a TV show I’ve ever seen, and I’d easily give it an A.
Completely understand you. I just felt slightly disappointed in some aspects. I’m not sure I can properly describe what I’m referring to, so I’ll just leave it at that.

…If a few characters died at the end like it seemed like they were going to, I would have given it an A+. I understand they still had hope of continuing on with the show or another movie, but it would have been an amazing way to end if almost everyone died.

I’d say two deaths is enough. I loved those characters, and having already liked Ron Glass from an acting standpoint (Barney Miller), the loss of his character saddened me. I also thought Wash’s death seemed very odd. It just kind of happened (not that it’s a bad thing, necessarily). Anyway, I thought the mostly happy ending was a great way to end the story.
