I think both words are valid hyperboles to describe bad things, but people should avoid using them simply for the sake of being “edgy”. The usual “George Lucas raped my childhood” comes across as juvenile, and to a degree trivializes rape by comparing it to some guy making bad movies. Saying “(X) politician will rape America” is valid since bad office decisions do hurt the people in real, physical ways.
