here’s my system
if it was made in the last ten years, it probably sucks.
if it’s getting rave reviews and I’m seeing posters at walmart, it probably sucks.
if it was directed by jj abrams, I KNOW IT SUCKS.
if its a remake of something good, see number 3.
I thought that JJ Abrams did a pretty good job with TFA and the first Star Trek.
Star Trek 09 sucked, but not because of JJ. If the movie had a decent script it could be tolerable.
The Force Awakens is good, mainly because the story is a carbon copy of Star Wars.
