Also, you can’t prove there isn’t a God any more than theists can prove that there is one. So “this bickering is pointless.”

Well to be fair, the burden of proof lies on the person making the claim, not the one disputing it.

Therefore, when making a claim that God doesn’t exist, the burden of proof is on the one claiming God doesn’t exist.

Luckily, all I claim is that neither of us knows if God exists.

My proof is your lack of the same. :p

ok.

And considering the fact the many MANY deaths that have occurred because people were so adamant about their God existing the burden lies in direction of those who assert his/her’s/it’s existence.

This doesn’t make any logical sense.

When people enter these sorts of discussions there is usually an assumption that by God we all mean the same thing. There might be something like a God but that’s not the same as saying the hilarious monster in the Old Testament might have done all the things attributed to it or that it deserves worship.

To you perhaps.

Even if we bring it to modern times the belief in God is shoved in everyone’s faces so shouldn’t the burden of proof be on the believers based on that?

Besides, since my brillian thread over here was locked, I figure we deserve another, perhaps less sarcastic, look at religion.

You’re brillian is amazzing!

No challenge there. All I am saying is that radical Christians/religious people and radical atheists are equally “in your face” about it. So your notion that normal religious folk have the burden of proof based on the idea that some religious folk shove God “in everyone’s faces” is blatantly ignorant and not self-aware.

Edit: I don’t challenge the right of Atheists to raise billboards. They have every right. This was not my point.

Atheists shoving their beliefs in people’s faces is a thing that happened in the last few decades. Religious people doing it has spanned thousands of years…

This is a very narrow-minded and simplistic view of history. History is filled with revolutions and counterrevolutions and there have been instances in which populations drove towards atheism. It happened during the French Revolution and it has of course happened in every communist nation in existence, which, by the way, have been the most bloody and murderous regimes in human history.

If you grew up in Middle East, you would be muslim.

Nope!

If not there’s a good chance you would be dead.

It wasn’t always that way, but you’re right, any non-muslim today is in incredible danger in almost any Middle-Eastern country besides Israel. I was just pointing out the misconception that every single person in the Middle East is the same.

You’re right but it is very disproportionate. Especially in ancient times.

Tis a shame. And the rotten among them give people like Trump reasons to generalize all of them.

Israel: 90% Jewish. Lebanon: 40% Christian.

What about places like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq?

Again, my Lord, we are not entirely discounting your statements but rather your penchant for over generalization.

And you’re trying to make assessments based on not giving complete information. Nice tactic.

Only slight in this case. The bulk of the region is Muslim and the penalty for stopping death.

No, I am not. I was pointing out the fallacy in your arguments. I concede it is very dangerous to be a Christian or Jew in the countries you explicitly point out; I was not challenging that, but only pointing out your fallacious generalization. You said that odds are, if you live in the ME and are not a Muslim, you’d be dead. Not true, because most non-Muslims in the ME live in countries where they are concentrated and relatively safe (Israel for Jews, Lebanon for Christians).

Didn’t think I needed to specify whether or not I thought the entirety of the Middle East was unsafe for non Muslims…
