When R2 is hooked to the Rebel computer and uploading the data tapes instead of showing us the tapes Artoo could watch one of the cutaways from the Holiday Special (the alien chef, Jefferson Starship etc) while he waits for the upload.
Alternatively there could be a progress bar.
