There is absolutely 0 evidence to support the existence of any god(s). It is a ridiculous ancient notion and I honestly can’t comprehend how intelligent, rational people in the modern age can believe in an invisible man in the sky who created everything and a centuries old man who rounded up two of every animal on a boat and a dirt man and a rib woman and a man living in a whale. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m sorry if this offends anyone but it’s all really silly.

What’s funny is that a lot of theists will dismiss things such as Aliens (even though there is no way we’re alone when there are over 200 billion Galaxies in the Universe) due to lack of empirical evidence supporting their existence but won’t care that there is none for their God.

FYI, not every Jew/Christian is a Young Earth Creationist who takes every part of the Bible 110% literally.

I didn’t say they were.

Then why use ignorant broad-stroke strawman arguments to cast their beliefs in as stupid a light as possible?

Yes, indeed.

This is why I usually avoid getting into religious debates. Someone’s always gotta start flinging the caustic rhetoric.

Because I’m making a general comment about a belief that is stupid. I can’t address every single persons personal interpretation. So I make my comments about the idea of “God” that is most widely accepted. There’s no logical reason for anyone to believe there is a god other than “because I was raised that way”.

Dear religious people,

You grew up in West and you are christian. I grew up in west and I’m an atheist.

If you grew up in Middle East, you would be muslim. I would still be an atheist.
(Note of Redaction: Well I mean if I was living in some shithole I would probably be muslim too, because I don’t want to get killed by rocks, but you know what I mean)

faith doesn’t require empirical evidence.

And just to be clear. I’m not saying the people who believe these things are stupid. That’s actually what baffles me about it. There are insanely intelligent people who are rational about everything in their lives, and yet they believe in the invisible man in the sky who created the universe. It’s just astounding to me.

Most widely accepted idea of God? And how, pray tell, did you come to the conclusion that this is the most widely accepted idea of God? Did you read any polls, any statistics which gauged how many Christians were hyperliteralists? Or is this just you making an assumption based on Hollywood Christianity and all the hardcore fundagelical loudmouths who go out of their way to draw attention towards themselves?

By the way, “I don’t believe the Bible because I have morals” is an impscum quality post.

What would we think of someone that said “I don’t believe the Koran because I have morals”?

You actively hate the Bible?

Yes, when it has things passages saying to kill homosexuals (and pretty much everyone else who isn’t a straight worshiper of Yahweh), a raped virgin must marry her rapist and a woman should not have authority over a man how could I not hate it?

I’m basing it on life experience. That it’s the idea of God I used to believe in. I’m basing it off of knowing that most of my friends have some variation of this kind of belief and so do 90% of all the people I talk to. And again I don’t recall saying that Christians are all hyper literalist. My comment was about the general belief in a god. I made mention of some bible stories but all I said was it was stupid for people to believe them. I didn’t say that all Christians did believe them literally.

All my comment meant was that there is no evidence that any sort of God exists and it astounds me that certain people still believe a lot of the bs stuff in the bible.

I don’t believe the message of the Koran because I have morals. My morals. Other people have other morals.

I don’t think messages such as kill the infidels or subjugating women should be considered as morals. Just my opinion though.
