Oh it’s nothing, just I wouldn’t have noticed it when watching the film.

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Exactly, lol. It’s a small error in an otherwise awesome copy of the movie.

I agree. I should mention that when I pointed out that some people have an issue with those shots, I’m not really one of the people who cares.

I’d love a similar copy of BTTF2. If the Pitbull logo is miscolored I would not turn it down. 😃

As would I. I would be stoked if we got DCPs of II and III.

Agreed, that would be so awesome.

Hey,

It’s not strictly on topic, but I think it’s a good place to ask. I’d like to know what languages was Back to the Future (the first movie only) dubbed into. I know about these so far:

Russian
Hungarian
Polish (not really a dub, but still…)
Chinese
Korean
Czech
Spanish
Hindi
French
Italian
Portugese
Japanese

There’s probably a German dub too, but I’ve never heard it. Anyone know more dubs?

ITV1 HD aired BTTF II over the weekend and thankfully during the evening, which meant it was uncut for the first time in years. How does this broadcast compare to the Blu-ray? Does it exhibit the same DVNR and EE problems? If you think it’s sourced from a different master, I’ll record BTTF III this Friday. 😃

^ What about the damn logo man?!

That could probably be removed if it was a superior version worth using. From the screens, it doesn’t really look like it is.

Both the Canal+ (ugly logo though and the one available where it has bern removed isn’t done very well) and Anytime HD Sky are much better than the ITV one.

For the record, because it doesn’t actually matter to this purpose, a logo like the ITV logo is easy to remove. I have some of the tools to do so (the user end tools; I can’t make logo masks) and regularly remove more complicated logos (such as those of Nittele and Animax) from my TV encodes.

The removal of those can’t be good without having the same footage without logo (at least on that part of the picture).

It’s better than you’d think, and works because the logo is translucent.

I’ve even used it on ITV4 footage in the past (Batman 66), but not with the current logo.

I wasn’t commenting on the itv logo, which is relatively small and semitransparent.

I was talking about the other two, which seemed pretty big and solid. But if you think you can make them go away very well too, please post some examples with intricate background. Just out of curiosity.

Ah, I specifically meant the ITV logo.

You could overimpose BluRay footage over the logo, couldn’t you?

In this case yes, but in this case there’s no need to do any kind of logo removal

Judging by the caps, would you say the ITV broadcast exhibits any signs of the DVNR & EE that are present on the Blu-ray?

I doubt they would scan a whole new transfer without DNR just to show it on television. It would be so much easier to just use the same blu-ray master.

That is true, however alternate or older masters frequently turn up during TV airings. This is exactly what happened recently with broadcasts of Predator and Psycho. I suspect it also might be the case with the ITV broadcast.

Here’s a comparison of the same shot from a Blu-ray rip and the ITV airing. Note that the former suffers from horizontal and vertical cropping whilst the latter has a more visible area and lacks the “Coming Summer 1990” title that is present on the Blu-ray and DVD.

Are we back on square one?

Just because one shows signs of edge enhancing, denoising etc. and other none of it, it doesn’t mean they’re not from the same master/same scan (and the opposite).
It could be the same master differently post-processed.

As already said the Canal+ and Sky Anytime Hd caps are better than this itv showing (I watched it) so why the need to remove the logo when there is better out there.

So there’s the DCP of the first film – are they any HD versions of II and III without the DNR and EE? I was under the impression that there were only low-bitrate TV rips.

Either way, grabbing the proper version right now. Always hated the Blu-ray – even before I knew it was overly processed. When I saw the trilogy in theaters last October, I could easily see how bad the EE and DNR turned out.

FYI! Netflix is now streaming Pre-Blu-ray mastered versions of the Back to the Future Trilogy. They have no DNR or EE, bttf1 has the pink wheels on the skateboard still, and NO “to be continued” tag, bttf 2 still has some nice grain, no temporal dnr, and NO “coming summer 1990” tag during bttf 3 trailer, bttf 3 has no temporal dnr. I hope someone is capturing this.
