My understanding is that the 6 track with the 70 mm prints and the Dolby Stereo with the 35 mm prints were identical mixes. The 6 track was 4.1 or 4.2 discrete tracks and the Dolby Stereo was 4.1 matrixed. The only reason the monomix was made was for treaters that couldn’t handle the optical Stereo tracks. 3 years later that wasn’t necessary.

There was in interview with Matt Wood who said that all of the mixes were captured and archived.

Q: Was there any thought given to archiving previous tracks like the 6-track master from the 70mm prints or the 78 mono remix? Any thought given to putting them on the Blu-ray?

A: Yes, we have those and they’ve all been digitized. I don’t know if they considered putting those on the Blu-ray. That might be more of a question for Marketing, it may be an issue of space. It’s funny because I play those other audio tracks, like the scene when R2 and C3PO have been left on Tatooine and they walk through the canyon. I just love that on the current mix, you can actually hear the quiet, when R2 is lonely, going through the canyon. I played the original mix and it’s FULL of hiss and totally brittle, so it’s fun now to hear it like George wanted it to really be, what was intended.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

LOL…“George wanted”. I wouldn’t trust the mixes to this guy after his work on the OT soundtracks. They’re probably all muddled.

He is the guy that fucked up the mix for the DVD. You know, the one with quality changing mid-sentence, with swapped surround channels, with horrifically loud sound effects. You know, how George wanted it.

Well, my memories of 1977 is how wonderfully that scene stands out, BECAUSE of the quiet. So I guess it worked even then. When I think of what it’s like to watch the OT in the theater I almost always think of that scene. (Don’t judge me.)

God damn I love this project. To see Mike dedicate so much time into a movie we all love, hoping that we might witness the original cut in glories 4K. Thank you so much Mike. Even though there a chance that we might not actually see your finished project (still confident in your killer presentation) all the work you’ve put in is greatly appreciated. And to those on this forum. Thank you for all the banter and discussion regarding the film we all love so dearly, even if we don’t agree with each other all the time. To see everyones passion for this brings great joy to me. Thank you everyone.

Mike, I signed on your forum at the Star Wars Legacy website, and it sent a confirmation e-mail. I still haven’t received a confirmation e-mail. Do you know how to solve this problem?

Given his beat around the bush mentality here lately, I’d say SOMETHING has happened. But what and how happy will it make us, who knows?

Do any of you guys know how to post on the Star Wars Legacy forums?

No, it’s just that, unlike here on OriginalTrilogy.com, there is no special little box or window where you can type words then post the message.

Maybe it’s an issue with your browser, or otherwise your account isn’t allowed to or something?

Yeah man, it keeps saying it sent my confirmation e-mail, but I haven’t received it.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when and if the pitch is given.

I love that you think it’s going to happen.

Well Mike has said he already had things lined up. For all we know, a pitch has already happened.

Yep. Because Disney is completely unaware of the interest…
Thank God this was pitched!!
