Why does a Japanese animation style equal “angsty teens”?

You know what? I hate it when people act semi-racist towards Japan, just because “we need to eliminate the weeaboo’s!” or whatever. What is wrong with Japanese media? What is particularly great about Japanese media? Why do some people take Japanese media like religion, and why do others generalize and despise it for no good reason?
I dunno when “anime isn’t good” became “destroy all people who watch it/the Japanese”.
