I can burn it later tonight to check. I don’t use subtitles, so no loss for me if there is a fix later.

I can confirm it’s an issue on hardware players as well.

I’m testing it out with drop frame set to true, I’ll let you know if that corrects the issue. If it does, I expect we’ll need to re-up the whole thing. Anybody find any other issues? Any problems with the menus?

Hey if the BD has to be rebuilt the remaining cue marks for reel 3 could be removed I guess. This is the silver lining.

I still don’t have it though because I can only use Uloz (for religious reasons).

Also confirming that the sync issue happens on hardware. But also, I selected the Spanish audio track from the 1981 menu and it just played the English track 1. I will double check and see if I can repeat the error tomorrow.

Other than that, no problems. Looks great!

Rebuilding the disc and menu and re-encoding the film are different beasts, though.

Looks like with the issues it might be just as well that its distribution has been hampered.

This situation with Negative One is like when I was a kid and I was fighting with my sister - I had to ask my Dad to ask my sister to pass me the ketchup. Rob having to ask Eftydub to ask Negative One to pass this forum the ketchup is somehow beautiful. It’s a dysfunctional family, but a family none the less.

It would be cool if you re-up a fixed version of the Blu-ray Rob. I have a very limited Internet connection and would not be able to download both.

Hardware players would indeed be affected by the sync issue as well. For those who do not wish to wait, remuxing with the subs from Project Threepio pack will give you something with subtitles that you can watch for now.

Thanks Williarob! The film looks amazing!
I have noticed some issues with the menus. When I first played the disc, I played the 1982 trailer, then went back to to the main (disc) menu from the polio menu. I then tried to play the main film, but the disc started playing the trailer again.

Also, I’m wondering if you could comment on your 1981 crawl. Is it a reconstruction, or just a cleaned up version of what was released before? I’m asking, mainly because of how static the star field, moons and planets seem. The matte painting of Tattooine seems to have completely static grain.

Great - keep the menu buglist coming, I knew there would be some, but it is hard to test for all of them by yourself.

The 1981 crawl should be the reconstruction (v1.6) created by Darth Lucas (See his custom Blu-ray thread for more information). If the grain appears to be static, it is possible that an older version was included by mistake. I’ll make sure that asset gets refreshed before I rebuild. Perhaps he will even have a version 1.7 using Poita’s '81 starfield ready in time?

It looks like the drop frame setting will correct the subtitle problem, they are currently about 1 or 2 seconds out of sync, but they remain that way throughout the entire film, so it should be an easy fix at this point.

The partial mux I did for the subtitle fix did alter the main movie file, so a full re-up will be needed. Therefore I’m re-encoding the main movie again to incorporate the Reel 3 cue mark fixes. Those of you who have been able to find and download a copy, please keep testing out those menus and let me know what else needs to be fixed.

Those of you waiting for it to appear on the spleen will have to wait a little longer, I’d rather wait and get the fixed (and I hope final) SSE version 1.6 up there. ETA is probably Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how long all of these fixes take.

I was curious about the crawl as well - surely either you or Poita have a scan of the faded 81 crawl?

I only have one version of it on 35mm, which was included with v1.0. Almost none of the stars are visible and Poita has confirmed that most of the prints he has are the same. Darth Lucas and Yotsuya have both been working on reconstructing the '81 crawl and flyover using starfields they created themselves based on laserdisc and ESB references, however Poita recently posted a high resolution star field from an '81 print which he had worked some magic on…

I saw similar behavior when playing it on Kodi, but i sometimes get weird issues like that so i wasn’t sure. On Kodi i would have to restart the movie, and then i could select spanish and it would play spanish subtitles. so it seems to just be that it doesn’t switch between subtitles once you already have one subtitle enabled? (haven’t gone back to retest though)

The only other menu thing that stuck out to me was that the 1977 button text showed up before the full menu was visible for the 1997 1981 crawl choices. it might be just because of menu lead in time or something and maybe not really an issue, but the fact that i didn’t seen the 1981 text seemed funny to me (sorry i haven’t retested this, and am relying on my memory)

yeah i hate to bug Williarob with this, but since negative1/rogue1 is bent on not allowing anyone to put the SSE on spleen, it will be necessary.

and yes, there is a silver lining in that the original torrent was disabled, so those who were still downloading, wont have it count against their ratio! i still have one user connected and downloading this morning when i checked, hopefully others were able to finish as well.

Oh right, yeah I’ve found the clip from the v1 SSE release. It seemed a strange choice to splice in a recreation for a project that is otherwise purely based on scanned material, I’d personally rather see the real 81 crawl than the recreated one that contains an amplified starfield (noting what poita said - audiences would have seen a mostly starless picture for the 81 crawl).

Rob, I’m wondering if simply renaming this project something other than SSE will make it easier to redistribute. The publicity of the SSE seemed to drive Team N1 underground, so releasing an updated version of the SSE seems to imply the team is still around.

Yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing. No strong feelings either way, but including a recreation feels off.

It did eat my ratio - hard. More in that I couldn’t seed it and bring it back up. 😕

Here’s a quirk I found with the 1.5 blu ray, after the fox fanfare on both crawls, the lucasfilm limted video seems to bounce. it’s not just the logo, it’s the whole frame and it’s more noticeable with the 81 crawl.

Yes. I’ve seen this happen when you try to stabilize something as it’s fading in and out and there’s nothing else to anchor it. In fact, it happened when I stabilized SSE 1.0’s ALTA card for DE 2.7. I just had to manually align the fading frames.
