Maybe Harry can try to make 3.0 more universally BD compliant then? What are the specs that encore requires?
MultiAVCHD should be an option in BD Reauthor Mode. There’s even the potential you could swap out the video from the mkv into the Bluray, since it is technically BD-Compatible.
Were the original audio files used or did you render new ones that were Encore Compliant? (this could have an impact on video or audio swapping)
Edit: just saw the video question posted. Many authoring programs are very strict about which files they will accept (DVD Architect is awful about this) - I’d imagine this is to ensure maximum compatibility and avoid extra troubleshooting questions of “I rendered my project, why won’t it work”
Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Adobe Encore, for those familiar, is an unbelievably temperamental and frustrating program. By all means, the .h264 files SHOULD be bluray compliant, but Encore wouldn’t accept them. I tried troubleshooting a variety of options (it may be something as simple as the file was created on a Mac and I use a PC), but in the end I had to convert them using Premiere Pro to get Encore to accept the file. As I mentioned, I kept the bitrate as high as possible, and the resulting picture quality is high, but not having to convert would obviously be preferable.
If anyone on the boards is proficient with Adobe Encore and could assist me with solving this, I would be grateful. Perhaps I can solve this for the v3.0 sets.
I’m in contact with Harmy to discuss this for the next release.
I would love a copy of these, it would be amazing. I would like to make a suggestion though.
For your special features, you should add Jamie Benning’s Star Wars Begins, Building Empire, and Returning to Jedi filmumentaries. Perhaps also the collider commentaries. If you had those, it would be definitive for me.
They’re x264 streams, so it’s no wonder encore would put up a fight.
Yes, that must be the issue, because standard h264’s are supposed to work.
Gimpy, there is barely room to fit the features I already did on the disk, let alone Jamie’s amazing docs. Maybe I’ll do a 50gb version at some point, full to the brim with all that stuff too, but this will have to do for now…

I fully agree. Those are my 3 favorite docs for Star Wars and Collider is just amazing. Again, all users on this site would love tuning into Jedi Council each week.
Jan diagnosed the problem with Encore four years ago 😃
On x264bluray.com they say that Adobe Encore CS5 has issues with BD compatible streams if --open-gop is enabled, which it is in this case. I don’t know if this applies to all versions of the software or if they fixed it, but as we’re talking about Adobe here, the issue is probably still present.
It sounds likely that a more compatible stream could be encoded with different x264 settings, but aside from that the aforementioned bait ‘n’ switch method should do the trick.
Is anyone here capable of this bait and switch method using multiAVCHD? I’m not familiar with how to swap out the video while maintaining the current BD menu structure, chapters and features.
Double post sorry
I just viewed up to the main menu of the SW 2.7 bluray, and i really like how you put this together, very polished and legit looking. good job!
I would echo requests i heard to include the Threepio subtitles. Having a child, i use subtitles way more these days than i used to, so it would be lovely to have them included!
And if anyone out there has the ability to provide a higher quality video of the original 77 star wars trailer, it would be nice to have a less block main menu. but you do the best with what you have!
Dude count me in for a copy. Tried several times to burn a copy onto disk yet it doesn’t play on my blu-ray player.

I’m confused by your post. You still have to download this version and burn it to a BD yourself.
“You don’t really mean you’ll kill me, do you?” - Juror 8
“Silence, Earthling! My name is Darth Vader. I am an extra-terrestrial from the planet Vulcan!” - Calvin “Marty” Klein
It looks great! Shame the Laserdiscs mixes aren’t included.
But you know what, I’ll consider this. 😃
Thanks to towne32, I have been supplied with the lossless video file for v2.7 so will be building a 50gb version of the SW-D Bluray. It will also include the DTS 5.1 and 2.0 track (once I work out how to use multi AVCHD), and the 1.0 and Music only track. Encore will allow up to 8 audio tracks, so suggestions for the other 4 tracks are welcome.
Options include laserdisk mixes, official commentaries, fan/podcast commentaries, comedy commentaries.
I will also be making a few other additions to the 50gb version, and will update as the project progresses.
* cough * are subtitles a consideration?
Yes. I should be able to add subtitles using multiAVCHD too. I’m thinking I’ll keep the audio options ‘official’ for the 50gb version, which would be:
English DTS 5.1 (1977 70mm mix)
English DTS 2.0 (1977 35mm mix)
English DD 2.0 (1993 Laserdisc mix)
1993 Laserdisc Audio Commentary
2004 DVD Audio Commentary
2004 starwars.com Audio Commentary
2011 Blu-ray Audio Commentary
Music-only Audio Track DD 2.0
I personally like the comedic/fan/podcast commentaries, but they will still exist on the 25gb release.
I would probably want the mono mix over the '93 mix. Perhaps the extra commentaries and leftover audio mixes could be placed in a BD-ROM folder of some kind.

mwah
Nice idea.
Definitely would prefer mono mix to laserdisc audio. Rebelforceradio, redlettermedia and collider commentaries would be a big draw for me, but I understand that the official stuff should probably take precedence. Having those commentaries cut to fit the despecialized edition on a mkv would be nice though.
I’m absolutely loving these right now man, thank you. I have wanted to do this myself, but didn’t have the software. I have Star Wars and Empire already in cases, gonna finish Jedi tomorrow. 😃
The Collider commentaries would be cool, and as special features go, my personal list of hopes and dreams was as follows.
A New Hope
-Collider Commentary
-Star Wars Begins Documentary
-Star Wars A Bad Lip Reading
-Star Wars: The Holiday Special
-and everything you already have on there.
Empire Striles Back
-Same material as above, but the ones for Empire.
-The Tie Fighter Anime https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN_CP4SuoTU
Return of the Jedi
-Same as above for Jedi
Count me in for a copy.
I would love respective original trailers for each film selectable as a special feature for the 50gig version, would make it even more professional.
Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

THANK YOU for your efforts in bringing Harmy’s Despecialized Edition to Blu-ray in a beautiful way…
Here are a few thoughts:

The benefits to adopting this approach? You could KEEP your BD25 release format for the main features (WITH your improved set of 8 “official” audio tracks…ADD the current/full set of Project Threepio subtitles) ALL at full resolution WITH your kickass menus, scene selection and whatnot. As Harmy provides us with future DESPECIALIZED releases, update the relevant BD25 feature movie disc(s) and done. (MAYBE consider including Harmy’s Sources documentary on the Star Wars Feature disc…MAYBE include the trailers to each film on their respective discs, BUT, I’d advise you to keep any BONUS content that’s NOT directly tied to the main feature all goes onto a separate disc).
Like I mentioned, having well organized and nicely packaged kickass BONUS content assembled together as seamlessly (and WITHOUT) compression would THEN begin to make a whole lot more sense (…and could totally accommodate the addition of Jamie Benning’s Star Wars Begins, Building Empire, and Returning to Jedi) as part of a 4 OR a 6 Blu-ray release model approach (IF you’re looking at roughly 50gb of COMBINED non-feature movie BONUS content, consider releasing it onto a single BD50…or if your looking at roughly 25gb, or so, of BONUS content for each film, then make ONE bonus BD25 disc per film). In EITHER case, you could always update your bonus content disc(s) as you so choose, BUT that content would no longer be directly tied to a specific DESPECIALIZED release (and that could help to save significant bandwidth AND media).
I hope that helps (and DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing the fruits of your further effort)! 😄
Kind regards,
-A.S.
p.s. There is (of course) a TON of what may considered for BONUS materials out there…again, I would advise that you include a good offering but please be mindful of QUALITY over quantity. IF you were to go for a six(6) disc model, if you can’t fit your BONUS content for each film onto it’s own BD25 without compression…then it’s probably TOO MUCH!
p.p.s. I love the Holiday Special (WITH RiffTrax commentary) as much as the next guy (AND totally commend and am excited by the restorative efforts that have been made in that direction)…BUT, I would suggest that’s a GREAT example of something that has no place on a polished DESPECIALIZED in Blu-ray format with companion BONUS disc(s).
Great suggestions, I’ll give this some serious thought. At this stage, I only have access to the lossless video and audio for SW, but am hoping Harmy may be willing to share the equivalent for ESB and RotJ as well. If that happens, all of this may be doable as you suggested. It would be a significant amount of work, but is worth considering.

This is exactly what I did when I made the Japanese Special Collection Trilogy BD-25. I made the disc in tmpgenc (mpeg2 only) then followed the directions on the linked page exactly and switched out the streams for the films from mpeg2 to x264 (bd compliant) encodes.

I was skeptical with this method at first but it works. Download the JSC trilogy bd-25 off the spleen and check it out.
Luke threw twice…maybe.
