These I can agree with. I must say I liked the shooting locations and CGI created world.

The only planet I found interesting was Kamino but the subpar CGI took me out of it at times.

I really liked the idea and design of a water planet. I didn’t like the grey alien-type creatures, or the CGI structures of the cloning facility, but the everything else was cool, including the flying creatures. Easily my favorite planet in the prequels, among very boring looking ones.

Unfortunately the cloning chamber was far from being practical, see here.

EDIT: btw, have you ever seen this? 😄

Ugh that second one. George is so obviously an editor and not a director and the films suffer for it.

He was married to an editor, that’s not the same thing as being one 😉

He did and was also involved with the editing on ESB and ROTJ. Which was part of the point. He’s interested in editing to a fault because he’s less interested in screenwriting and production. One of the reasons why AOTC had so many reshoots is because George didn’t really figure out he needed important connective elements of the plot and character arcs until he started editing.

I don’t think that’s true is it.

Editing, as with many things, is something that George was very good at once. His original cut of THX-1138 is one of the best edited films there is IMO. Of course he went back and ruined it many years after. I don’t see any evidence of those skills in AOTC.

I know there’s a good editor in him, he’s only forgotten. The prequels haven’t driven it from him fully.

He’s more a Binks now than man, twisted and Ewok.
But really, I remember watching this Kershner interview, and I think he got right Lucas’s skills (he was his teacher, after all 😄 ).

Attack of the Clones contains so many plot twists: the discovery that an entire star system was mysteriously erased from the Jedi Archives, the discovery that a clone army for the Galactic Republic was made in secret, the discovery that a deceased Jedi Master ordered the creation of the clone army, ect.

Yeah, what ever happened with all that anyway?

It wasn’t all that important, apparently.

All of that was introduced as it came. It isn’t like we knew anything about the clone planet until they mentioned that it was erased from the archives. I wouldn’t call any of those things twists. I’m also pretty sure they mentioned all that crap about Gloomu Mugufu ordering the creation of the clones before we even really saw the clone army.

Gloomu Mugufu sounds like a real prequel character name, unfortunately. 😉

The best scene in the whole damn thing is the tiny moment where Dooku confronts Obi-Wan about the corruption in the Senate, Qui-Gon and attempts to manipulate a Jedi’s conviction. Every time I see this I revel in its power and want to scream out: “YES JOIN HIM SO WE CAN HAVE AN ACTUAL INVOLVING STORY AND PIT OBI-WAN AND HIS NOW WAVERING BELIEFS AGAINST HIS MASTER’S MASTER!!!”

And it never happens. Sigh.

Best. damn. thing. in. entire. PT. (Besides the few well paced moments in the TPM theatrical cut.)
