I’m beyond tired of Forever getting trashed by everyone. There’s a hell of a lot of good stuff in there if you look past the 90’sisms and cheesier bits. And if the studio hadn’t mucked about in the editing room it would be held in much better esteem.
And after enduring B&R yet again…I think the consistent Schumacher bashing has got to stop. It’s the studio’s fault ultimately every time and the whole film was cursed from the get go. It was the guy’s job to do their bidding, even though he wanted to do a dark Batman film. They rushed it, they only cared about marketing, merchandising and building the franchise. To compound this the original super producers were long gone and Schumacher was left to try and just get the damn thing done on time and make it kid and toy friendly on every level. Sure it’s heinously bad but considering how the production went it starts to make sense.
Maybe it’s also finally listening to his commentary. He comes across as a truly nice guy and makes more references to the comics than Burton did.
It’s not just one guy’s fault…nine times out of ten there’s a hell of a lot of production troubles going on.
Anybody else ever think similarly? Or is it just me and doing way too much research into the Bat production histories?
