If the rumors of ghost Hayden being in Episode 8 are true, then all chance of an OOT release outside of bonus material in the vein of the '06 DVDs is gone.

I don’t have any idea how these two things are connected.

Some people, for some reason, think that canon means something. By the way, if that logic is correct, then why would they ever release deleted scenes?

Those Hayden in VIII rumors are utterly false regardless. I would place a bet on it but I assume my utter misery would be payment enough if it did happen.

And frankly I get a little agitated when people say the ‘majority doesn’t care’. I say about half the fans don’t care. Here’s why (caution this may be lengthy). PT aside, let’s look at the percentage of those who did and didn’t buy the BDs of the OT. Let’s say out of 100%, 80% bought the BDs, 20% didn’t. Let’s look at the 20%. This is either hardcore OOT trilogy fans who want those alone or fans who don’t have BD players. Let’s says 70% of that 20% is the former.

Now let’s look at the 80%. Who are these people? I say this is likely three big groups. Fans who want the SEs, fans who could care otherwise, or fans who want the OOT but don’t have a choice. Let’s say 25% of that 80% are the last group mentioned. Max that out with the 20% who didn’t buy the BDs you practically made up almost half of that original 100%. Perhaps to some of you this means nothing but something to think about.

At the end of the day the average consumer doesn’t care anyway, and that’s all that matters to Disney/Lucasfilm.

So there’s no profit to be had just because your grandmother won’t buy it?

One way or another, putting hope on the “profit” is delusional. As I already said, LF is making billions with each new film. Several millions of profits from potential release of theatrical versions is not even worth a consideration (profit-wise).

Not as delusional as using quotation marks for no reason.

Did I “do” that right?

Also, I am glad that is a real site, looks like good entertainment next time I am stuck somewhere.

I thought the latest was that he didn’t want to do it (facing further fan ire).

I’m sure the Rebel Force Radio guys were discussing that the other day.

If Hayden has the good sense to stay away, that’s a level of self awareness we rarely see in actors. I know he would take me out of the movie and would take me from seeing it five times in the cinema to just one or two.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I’m still keeping my chin up and hope for the day (or next year) we get the OUT (and the theatrical versions of the prequels) on Blu-ray and remastered DVD.

I too am hoping that one day we will have both the Original Unaltered Trilogy(OUT) and the Prequel Unaltered Trilogy(PUT). I hope that all of them are restored in 4K with the correct Colors and Contrast as well.

We can call them the OUTPUT.

Disneyland released some new Star Wars Merchandise, one of the shirts has the famous end scene with the ghosts from Return of the Jedi. Unfortunately it’s Hayden Anakin though, not Sebastian Shaw. This just reinforces in my mind that Disney will go by the Special Editions as cannon. It’s a shame since Sebastian Shaw gave such a great performance yet the ghost of him is a different actor.

I bet it has more to do with the fact that the SEs are the only presently available version of the movie…

GREEDO SPEAKS

"Of course, in it said it all in the original script, we played in the scene in English and at the end of the scene, it reads, ‘Han shoots the alien.’ " Blake told the Daily News. “It’s all it says and that’s what happened. It was very painful.”

Besides, having Greedo fire first and miss from across a table, as has been the case after the original release, is sort of embarrassing.

“He was a bit inept wasn’t he?” quips Blake. "He’s a worse shot than a Stormtrooper. I don’t think Jabba had him under a pension plan let’s put it that way.

“It would be lovely to see them go back to the original version, I much preferred it, I must say. And it does give it Greedo a little more glory if he’s just blown away.”

I wasn’t saying it isn’t relevant, I was saying there’s already a dedicated thread for it.

You guys can think whatever you want, but money is not the reason the OOT has been nixed. It has nothing to do with the distribution rights, either. The sole reason Disney has no plans to restore the OOT is because George Lucas doesn’t want it to happen. Kathleen Kennedy and his minions still run Lucasfilm. Lucas himself is the largest single living shareholder of Disney stock. It’s not going to happen as long as he is alive.

It’s been 4 years already. Let it go.
