Sounds good. I’ll try it.

But in case it doesn’t work, what should I call the folder if I have to burn it again?

Thanks towne for the hard work by the way. It’s hard to imagine all the hard work that you and harmy have done on these.

@Sluggo
That’s what I did, I just copied the folder named: “CERTIFICATE” from my v2.5
I was just thinking maybe there’s a reason this folder is in every version
I’ve seen, even though it appears empty.
It worked fine, and was still working last night! LOL

I thought I recognized your foul stench when I entered this forum!

I think the reason for it is that if it was an official, encrypted disc, there would be something important there.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks fellas (and/or ladies) !

When in doubt “Google”? I copy this from the Doom9 Forum, sounds valid.

The CERTIFICATE folder should always exist on a bluray whether empty or not
If the disc contains BD-J (JAR files) and they are signed, then there needs to be a certificate
in that folder that authenticates the signature of the JAR files
If the JAR files are not signed, there is no need for a certificate, but BD-J then cannot access
some privileged functions, among them access to persistent storage or access to the internet
If the certificates are removed and a signed JAR file wants to access privileged code, the disc
simply will not play.
If BD-Live content is downloaded from the internet, it may (usually is) signed too, requiring a certificate in that very folder to ensure, that the downloaded content can’t be tampered with.

Well, none of that is really relevant here, since there’s not even a menu. Let alone BD-J. It’s possible that some players could glitch up if they don’t see the folder, but I haven’t seen it happen (for BD-Rs at least). With the constant updating of BD firmware, I’d be surprised if it’s an issue, but yeah, in theory it could only help compatibility by including an empty folder.

Yup! That’s exactly the issue, some players expect that folder to be present, empty or not.
I saw “PowerDVD” named as having this issue. Perhaps hardware players too.

I finally have it and have watched it. Very good. Mostly a nice color palet, but in many scenes there is too much yellow. Where the Blu-ray is way to red, this seems to be hit or miss with some scenes overcorrected to a yellow bias (when Ben find’s Luke and when they reach the Alderaan system and find the Death Star) followed by others that still carry a lot of red (inside Ben’s Hut and climbing out of the smuggling compartments). Aside from a yellow cast to a lot of the scenes, it is fantastic. I love the detail in the restored scenes. Definite the go-to version for high quality image. For color, almost but not quite. It lacks the consistency of the old home video telecines and the bad, but consistent, colors of the Blu-ray. Some scenes are stellar but some are way too yellow. Han’s shirt should be a creamy off-white, not a dirty yellow.

This was a project that was altering Harmy’s alteration of You_too’s alteration of Lucas’s butchering. So, there were limitations aside from my own low skill level. But thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I have just downloaded 2.7, and damn, I thought that George Lucas finally released the unaltered Star Wars on Blu-ray! The colors are great! But VLC sometimes play .m2ts files. So I only watched it once, the 2nd time, it crashed, any good m2ts players?

Daum Potplayer works well for me.

And yes, the colors are incredible.

I never have any codec packs installed and never have any problems.

And MPC plays the MKV fine without any codec packs…

Just had a chance to check out the new v2.7 and it is a BIG improvement on v2.5 colourwise. Some of the fleshtones in certain scenes are still too red for my liking but the overall improvement is pretty staggering. Great job towne32!

Do you have any plans to work on The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi Despecialized Editions?

Do you have specific problems with those colors that warrants it?

When I checked them out last, which was admitedly many months back, I had the general impression that they could be improved colourwise. It’s tough to nail down specifics, expecially after not seen both for so long, but I just had a feeling that there was potential to improve on the colours further.

towne32’s done a great job here IMHO so I think he should have a look at those two as well, two eyes working on a regrade are always better than one, I think that’s been clearly demonstrated here with v2.7. I think any potential margin for improvement with those two would be much less than with Star Wars but it would be very interesting to see what he could do with them.
