Used to see people at swap meets ask high prices for SW toys that were missing parts or nearly wrecked. And this was before Ebay existed.

There was this book called What to save from the 80’s, published in 1986, in which the author predicted that Star Wars collectibles would never rise in value, since there were no new movies coming along. Comedy gold then and now.
