Don’t leave us Adywan. You’re our only hope for a decent conversation.

Not that I want him to leave, but that’s clearly not true.

It’s an interesting idea.
One change I would make would be to make the eyes of the original actors match their younger selves. As people age their eyes lose some shine, it’s usually the tell in even really good old age makeup. So if you made Carrie, Harrison and Mark look like they are wearing old age make up rather than being natural it would go some of the way to pulling off the effect.
I would also make all the original class limp a bit because that’s what young actors think older people do.
I’d replace most of Snoke with the original Palpatine (mask sections and animal eyes) just keep the lips for sync reasons and maybe use computer morphing which would be a cutting edge technology at that point.

How on earth is he supposed to do this?

The same way the 1997 crowd made Han step on Jabba’s tail… only not quite as badly.

Jabba’s tail shot was not only pulled off by those harboring millions of dollars at their disposal, but it was only one shot.
There is literally no way in the world he could pull off a convincing limp for every one of the original cast.

My number one priority right now is to remove as many lens flares as possible. Anyone know of a way to easily get rid of them, or at least help me get rid of them?

I wondered how this thread got popular. Now I know. An time wasting argument.

That was 1997. With Ady being able to replace mattes and major set elements I’m pretty sure someone could pull off an unconvincing limp with modern digital technology. Get real 😛

Listen guy, I’m no special effects master, my knowledge of After Effects is limited to any tutorials I find, and me messing around for hours on end without any goal in mind. I have no idea where to start with a convincing limp. If you want your limp so badly, add it to your edit, or at least tell me how to do it be cause right now, I would make it look worse than the Jabba scene.

If you are going to take that attitude go run up a shutter.
You asked for ideas and unlike many of the people on here I actually posted a couple.
Good luck with edit. I’m sure you will do just fine without me poking my oar in.

I didn’t mean to bring attitude into this, maybe it was just the way you read it, but I genuinely want your help if you think a limp would make it look better, please help me out. I can’t guarantee that I’ll keep it in the final cut, but I can at least see how it looks in a couple of shots. Thanks for the kind words 😃

Well you might as well scrap this edit altogether since you shat on the only person who seemed interested…

I’m sorry for coming off as rude to him/her, and to everyone who posted on this thread because of that. I threw a post together real quick without thinking to much about it, and that was a big mistake. I’m still kind of new to posting of fourms in general, and I’m really enjoying it so far, but I’m still trying to get used to people not knowing what kind of emotion and points I’m trying to get across.

As long as you didn’t mean to came off as hostile it’s all good. Previewing a post and making the smallest of adjustments can give post a completely new feel 😃

This would be a really cool edit if it can be pulled off!

Also I would cut the rathtar scene as it would be to hard. Snoke will be tricky as well

I don’t want to cut anything from the movie in my edit if it could help it, as for Snoke, I was thinking something like this:
Snoke

I think the hardest part of this would be making it look convincing enough that it would appear to belong right after the original trilogy in the 80s.
Too cheap looking and it’ll look like a bad fan project.
Though in saying that, you can’t get too much of a step down from those horrendous green screens in ROTJ, right?

I’m decent at adding artifacts and grain so I’d offer what help I can, though if you’re making major edits like above I’d be worried if you couldn’t do that yourself.
Good luck, I’m actually quite interested to see how this turns out.

I heard about JJ’s obsession with them, but honestly I can’t find that many in TFA? If there are, I guess I didn’t find them too outrageous as per Star Trek.

And that snoke shot looks really good, something really good may come from this edit!

As for the rathtars, who knows maybe someone could apply some sort of stop motion effect to get them closer to the something like the rancor and AT-AT’s of the 80’s (hey that rhymed)?

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
