Skyfall: B+
I really enjoyed this film, it had good acting, good characters, great direction and cinematography, and an interesting story. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but I enjoyed the film nonetheless.
Dr No: B-
It dragged a lot in the second act, most characters are underdeveloped, and the story is pretty poor, but overall the good outweighed the bad.
To quote Noel Coward: “No, no, no!”
Dr. No is arguably the finest film in the series. To me Skyfall had none of the qualities mentioned above but at least it wasn’t Spectre.
I just didn’t love Dr No, it plodded around a bit, and Honey Ryder was a terrible love interest. Skyfall had some great cinematography, a great villain who was in the film for more than ten minutes (that isn’t a detractor from Dr No, I just thought I’d bring it up), a flawed main character (seriously, James Bond in Dr No isn’t compelling in the slightest), and some great love interests with personality. Keep in mind that I really do like Dr No, I just find it overrated.
