I just don’t understand why people think that they are somehow being personally robbed of their books and comics and magazines and video games and whatever simply because they are not officially considered canon. I mean, you can still read the books! FFS . . .
EDIT: I suppose I could see some people’s frustration if any major stories were left unresolved, but to my knowledge there are no major cliffhangers in Legends. They were really scraping the bottom of the barrel by the time the PT ended.

I’m shocked that you can still buy the books in bookstores. I would have thought that they would have gone out of print as to not confuse the idiots.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? Imagine if DC fans made a billboard out of anger from Crisis ending the Silver (Bronze) Age way back when?
What if Star Trek TOS purists made a billboard against TNG and the TOS crew movies, demanding that they put the TOS crew back on the small screen?
Legends are still in print and able for purchase at any common bookstore, so fans of it have it pretty good. Surely most of them haven’t read all of the hundreds of hundreds of Legends books.

If they had, they wouldn’t constantly ask stupid questions like “Why does Exar Kun have a blue lightsaber?”.
The only thing I was genuinely disappointed about was Dark Horse losing the license, not the fact that they were scraping what had come before. DH was an independent publisher which gave their SW comics a bit more artistic integrity, in my opinion. Plus, I’ve just got a bit of brand loyalty to them since they published a lot of great comics in the 80’s and 90’s for somebody who never liked the super hero stuff even as a kid.
Marvel’s output has been less than exciting, and I can tell it’s being written by super hero writers considering a lot of villains refer to themselves in the third person. 😛

There are so many stories left unresolved in life, that I hope people wouldn’t flip over it. Look how long we had to wait for new Twin Peaks! Although I will say that the DH comics were still pretty great in spots after the PT (you know, for a SW comic that still has to have action scenes in every issue).

I read some of the books from time to time up until I finished college. I used to read them when I wanted something light, but realized there’s a lot better light reading material out there like Clive Barker, Richard Adams, and others.
And I agree about the comics, although these new ones aren’t doing anything for me at the moment, especially considering the deluge of good mainstream comics coming out (Saga, East of West, Low, ODY-C, etc).
Yeah I was heartbroken when I heard that Dark Horse was losing the license. They have a great stable of writers and Randy Stradley was a fantastic editor that really understood the property.
Marvel really floundered when they started with their new line. Some of that stuff was just AWFUL. I’ve heard its improved but I haven’t really seen that myself yet.

Absolutely. He was a dude who started an indie comic book company in the 80’s and never became a “company man.” I thought the comics were starting to falter towards the end with a lot of things that just didn’t seem interesting to me (Invasion, something about lost sith, and some other Old Republic comic (not KotOR by Miller, as I think that’s great)), but he was a great down to earth guy who was always interacting with fans, yet never pandering.
And c’mon, he wrote Dark Times. That’s a great comic that, if you ask me, transcends the license.

Yeah they seemed to be treading a lot of water toward the tail end. I can’t help but wonder if that was because they knew what was coming.
