Audio embedded in the TFA video file

I’ve been crafting my edit and have been a few adjustments to the Finn and Poe escape in the beginning of the film. These changes made it so whenever the first shot of Finn walking throughout the desert the Rathtar burping sound plays shortly there after. If I cut the sequence out and move on to another part of the film…the Rathtar burp still plays a couple of seconds afterward. So I deleted all of the audio channels and some music and the burp still plays…Fixing this is beyond my expertise which is minimal. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My advice would be to post in the tech section instead of the fanedit section.

This sounds like an issue with the editing software you’re using (and should probably be in the how-to section for better responses). I don’t know if you’re using software that doesn’t care about separate streams in the same file or if you’re not actually removing it the way you think you are, or if you’re simply not grouping the tracks so that your cuts affect both the video and audio. Or maybe you’ve got several languages loaded and don’t know it. Will need to know the software being used. But the audio is not embedded in your video track.

I hope this helps

Also if any mods can move this thread to it’s proper place (if it’s within your scope of abilities) that’d be great.

I’ve never used Vegas, but maybe someone else can help. It’s pretty hard to see what’s going on because the image is scaled down, but it’s possible that it won’t matter for someone familiar with the software.

edit: and your image is presumably from before you remove or mute the audio tracks, just moving clips around as you described earlier in your post. Are you certain that your audio and video cuts are in the same places? I can think of multiple reasons why that could have gone wrong. What’s harder to imagine is still having the audio if you really did remove those tracks.

Yes it was.

Take an image afterwards. Make sure you use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down and see if there’s an audio track hiding down there where you can’t see it.

There were two other tracks hiding in the shadows and the problem seems to be gone. Thanks.

probably NOT a good idea to be advertising that you are using the bootleg blu-ray rip that was leaked weeks before the blu-ray was officially released for your edit instead of a rip from your own legit copy.

I don’t have a blu ray drive/writer (or whatever the fuck) on my PC. Plus isn’t getting a copy of something whether it be a fan edit or not legal so long as you have a original copy? You want to see my receipt or something?

Also the file I got was released in the last week or few days.

EDIT: I’m surprised no one has said anything about me presumably pirating Sony Vegas…

Well, I don’t think you posted evidence of that one.

Well, it depends on where you live. Under US law and the DMCA, no, not technically. If you circumvent the copyright protection yourself by ripping the disc, for legal/fair use reasons it is technically legal, but the distribution of those materials for others is not. It’s a level of nit-picking that’s not really relevant since what we’re doing is already even less ‘grey’ than that.

But not using ‘scene’ releases is a requirement for participation in sites like fanedit, I think. And using the original encode is ideal for the sake of the quality of your own project. It would have also been relevant if there really was something wrong with your file or AV streams.

Well please remind me not to bother to try and offer any help to anyone in the future. Using a scene release for a fan edit is highly frowned upon and all i was doing was trying to advise you that it isn’t a good idea to publicly show that you are using a bootlegged download for your edit, as you clearly was showing by the vegas snapshot. The last thing you want is to get banned because of something you may not have been aware of, so i was just offering some advice. But after the attitude in your reply, i guess i should have just kept my mouth shut

Your post didn’t come off as advise it came off as scolding to me. Seeing as how I was wrong in that assumption I apologize for my tone.

I’m scolding you. Buy the drive if you don’t have it. Pirated copies are pirated whether you own the movie or not.

That’ll be a while. Plus this is my personal edit so waiting isn’t really a problem.

As soon as you rip your own BD even if you own an original it is considered pirated by the FEDS any way… It just has not been challenged in court yet.

2 things that give this all away is the frame ratio, and the title in the screen shot. I think the only way the studio considers any BD-ripping legal in any way if they provide there so called “digital copy” which is a joke in it’s own right.

uTorrent and Bittorrent? Can’t make up your mind between pretty much the same software? :p

In any case, why didn’t you set your project settings to at least 5.1 audio (I think that’s the max for Vegas)? Your audio is now all playing on Stereo. If you only have Stereo speakers and that’s why they’re not on their usual channels, you can always downmix it to stereo during the editing. Also what version did you grab? If you’re serious about this, just pick up the BD and a cheap drive for your PC to make it more legal. Anyway let me know, I know a bit about Vegas.
