Help: looking for... E.T. 20th Anniversary Edition in HD? (with info)

Has anyone ever found this version in HD, this cut is only on dvd and while im not saying it should replace the original version or the current blu ray id still like to have it in HD to go along with the official blu ray im sure its aired on tv in HD before at some point, has anyone ever thought of doing a restoration using the blu ray and upscaled/HD footage of the extra content it seems like it could be worth while for preservation sake, it probably wouldn’t take to long either as there aren’t many new alterations

hmm, I suppose upscaling would be in order then im sort of fuzzy on that whole aspect what programs are used to upscale a dvd and make it look decent alongside the blu ray

I have a good French 720p 23.976 fps version of it. Might be HDTV sourced.

EDIT: Just checked and the “HDNet Movies” logo shows up sometimes during the movie. SilverWook is right, it’s the same version as the one you can find with some easy search.

what about the altered effects are those scenes included on the blu ray ? I haven’t watched it in a while

that’s what I figured, I guess the only other option would be to upscale the scenes with the new effects added and splice them as well as the extra scenes into the blu ray version here’s a list of changes made to the 20th anniversary edition with pictures comparing both versions side by side if anyone wants to know or try a preservation

In theory, we could do a Harmy-style rotoscope so we don’t have to use the whole frame.

I was going to suggest that, if someone could get the 20th anniversary version from that HDnet or any HD version for that matter broadcast, someone could rotoscope the digital E.T. model and place it into the 1982 blu ray master as for full scenes if its 720p I suggest an upscale or using a 720p rip of the 1982 version for consistent quality, audio is not English for the HDTV rip if I recall so we would need to rip the audio track from the 20th anniversary dvd and sync it up and BOOM E.T. The 20th anniversary Edition Preservation RE-specialized will be born, sadly I couldn’t do any of this other than supply links because my current setup is pretty low end

really, I can’t find it online and the sites that I’ve been directed to are in Russian and I can’t navigate around, where did you find your copy, is it in English ?

It’s refreshing to have to rely on a fan edit to preserve the crappy Special Edition of a film instead of the original.
