So I have recently been playing around with serious plot restructuring of the force awakens and am trying to move the Hosnian destruction to the third act. I can throw up a link for a preview for things like Hux’s altered speech which is rescored and a star starts getting sucked up by Starkiller instead of the base firing. I think it works well. I found that I also had to cut out every reference to the destruction of the Hosnian system before it happens in the last part of the movie. I found that they are seamless cuts that don’t take away from the film. Everything was easy to rearrange and cut for this new plot change but once I got to the third act I realized some problems.
Where to put the destruction?
I’d like to put it close to after Hans death but then Poes trench run and everything feels to happy and disconnected. Here’s my two ideas!:

So I thought maybe I could rescore this sequence of events. It would be Hans death, Leia reacts, we cut to Hosnian Destruction, we cut back to Chewie shooting Kylo, Chewie detonates bombs, THEN Poe cuts right through hole and blows everything but I might rescore this since it may feel too happy.

Orrrr… I could try this. So Sequence of events would be Hans death, Leia reacts, then when Chewie starts shooting troopers we don’t go from sad music like “The Starkiller” to fast music when Chewie starts shooting but INSTEAD we then cut to Order 66 Music and once it cuts to Rey and Finn shooting troopers it cuts to Starkiller firing. Just imagine Order 66 music, Chewie desperately shooting down troopers in angst, Finn and Rey with tears down her face are hopelessly firing at troopers, we cut to Starkiller firing and destroys the republic. Chewie detonates a hole as Poe flies through and blows it up knowing on the inside they didn’t destroy it in time and they ultimately failed. The problem here is Id have to move the fighting above the base with Poe before Hans death then maybe show people evacuating in the middle of the lightsaber duel. Ideas? For rescoring I’m waiting on someone to remove the music from the 7.1 channels which I would be eternally grateful for.
I think if implemented correctly this would work well. Please post pretty much any ideas concerning how you would choose to handle this plot change in the third act if you were to or actually are thinking of doing a fan edit.
