If you took the search for Luke out of the film the film wouldn’t make any sense and wouldn’t have happened in the first place. The map is what lead the First Order and Poe to Jakku which lead to Finn defecting when he did and rescuing Poe which lead them to crash on the planet which lead him to Rey and so on and so forth.
