Why do you see Mon Mothma’s presence on Yavin 4 as a continuity issue? Maybe she gets evacuated to another location for safety when it becomes clear the Death Star is on its way.
Yes. This is sci-fi / fantasy. They will definitely find a nice explanation which won’t be a real problem.
