The Clone army didn’t turn on the Republic, they wiped out those traitorous Jedi and the Republic was reordered into the Empire. 😉

Turning on the guardians of peace and justice for a thousand generations and ushering in an autocratic dictatorship sure sounds like turning on the Republic to me.
