Thing you've got to remember is that Fox TV, although sharing the same parent company (News Corp.), is a separate entity. As such, while it may enjoy a preferred 'rate' on Fox properties, the synergy between it and its other corporate siblings is far less than you are attributing. Fox TV doesn't want to see Warner fall, because it also broadcasts several Warner-produced series; the same is true of The WB, UPN, CBS, ABC, and NBC/Universal. None of these companies wants to see the other fall, unless it's in the case of a merger.
