Wouldn't happen for quite a while though, I have a huge Star Wars backlog.

Good things come to those that wait... or something.  :D

Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to complete a scan of a full film?I think I read about it last year before AMPS jumped boards twice, but I can't remember now.  Reading about your scanner acquisition was probably the most interesting post on all of AMPS.

 About 6 months.

Thank you for your thought and effort, Lasedisc Master!

My friend in Italy managed to capturing this recent airing of JAWS: THE REVENGE, and it has the original cut with Jake's death and the non-explosion ending. I'm going to try and put this rip on the BD-R I make of this, just need to sync it up with the English track.

I would just include the ending. No reason to include the whole movie again.

I have always loved these movies and want to support this project however I can! I have various copies of the Australian HDTV airings of all three films, but only at 720p and the HDTV bitrate we're stuck with in Australia is notoriously bad, very rarely getting higher than 8mbps. All are 1440x1080 PAL and quite heavily watermarked but they are all direct copies straight off the TV antenna.

Jaws 2 and Jaws 3 are unfortunately cropped down from 2.35:1 to fit 1.78:1 with picture missing from both sides.

Jaws: The Revenge is 1.78:1 too but it's open matte, not cropped and the picture is miles better than the ugly Australian DVD. The shark kebab doesn't explode in this version and Jake doesn't surface.

I also have the two behind-the scenes TV specials for Jaws 3 and 4, freely available on Youtube in ULQ, and a LQ copy of Jaws 3d presented in red and blue 3D from some kind of Asian video disc. Importantly, this 3d copy still has the underwater tunnel green screens that made it into the final theatrical cut and the original VHS. They were digitally tinted light blue in every other copy I've seen.

I have a slow upload but if you'd like any video stats, screenshots or clips, please let me know!

VHD?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I got a VHD machine a few years back and ripped JAWS 3D myself, but it was MPEG2, and would love to do it again some day, when I get a better model.

I'm pretty sure poita has everything necessary to do this well. Shoot him a PM to ask!

Might just do that, but I know he's incredibly busy already with other obligations but will ask when the timing is right. I also do have the Sensio DVD, so that's usable at the moment, although it's 2.20:1, I believe.

Hey Jordan, are you in Australia?

I do indeed have Jaws 3D on VHD and a VHD player here.

I imagine the Sensio is a much better quality version.

Hi Poita, I'm in Australia. I guarantee it will be better quality! All I have is a very low quality avi conversion of the VHD rip

Where did the "workprint" footage come from? Was there ever a film source?

Believe it or not, it's not a workprint. There's just the one green screen scene (after Calvin's evacuation announcement but before the water breach) that might have even made it into the theatrical cut. I didn't see it theatrically but I can confirm that scene was green on the 1980s retail Australian VHS (my copy is now long gone, sadly).

The backdrop was changed to light blue on the Region 4 DVD and all the Australian TV broadcasts I've ever seen.

See screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/YIkKu

The colours on the VHD rip are a mess, but the green is accurate. I'd love it if someone with the VHD could confirm this please. I'd also love to know what the laserdisc looks like. This bizarre goof was part of the film's charm for me!

Apologies for the double post but another Jaws 3 preservation issue is the multiple variations of the opening titles. Nearly every version has different graphics, with the Australian HDTV version the least faithful to the theatrical. The ugly static red movie title on the HDTV doesn't have the gnashing teeth animation like every other version.

See screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/qjVeU

Also, this video shows the VHS had that era's standard Universal logo, not the specially drawn 3D universal logo that I presume was on the theatrical (it was restored in 2D on the R4 DVD but is again replaced with the standard 80s logo in the Australian HDTV, if the network shows it at all).

My apologies, I misunderstood. The Jaws Collector guy would know. If those clips didn't have that temp music they might sync with Alan Parker's original music cues!

Hello, just a casual browser here, JawsTDS would you mind clarifying- are those screenshots from the I-tunes version of Jaws 2 or a different source?

The 1980's MCA VHS had the standard Universal logo, but the VHS I have (from the late 90's I think) has the custom Universal logo combined with the static red opening credits like that Australian HDTV version has. I also used to have a TV edit recorded off of TBS in 2001 that had alternate or added music cues in a few sequences (and some interesting edits to remove objectional material) but unfortunately that tape is long gone.

Jaws III was one of my favorite movies as a kid for some reason so I've seen many different variations of it over the years from various video releases and TV airings. For the longest time I only had a VCR dub of the 80's VHS until I finally found a copy in Suncoast before they closed down in our mall. I think it's from 1998 (it has the post 1997 Universal logo on the sleeve) but I got it with some of my Birthday money in 2002.

I actually have both VHS copies. The 1980’s VHS in fact does have the standard ‘Universal An MCA Company’ logo with the ‘3D’ type look to the main credits and the snapping teeth Jaws III logo. The late 1990’s tape has the Universal logo they retained later for the DVD but just has the plain static red credits. The DVD as I mentioned has the Universal logo from the 1990’s tape but the credits from the 1980’s tape. I was reading that apparently the version of Jaws 3 included in the 3 DVD set from last year actually has Jaws 3D as the title instead of Jaws III. I’m not sure which Universal logo it has. A few weeks ago they had a Jaws marathon on Encore and the version of Jaws 3 shown there also had another credit mix around. This time it was the standard Universal logo, like on the 1980’s VHS, but with the static red credits from the 1990’s tape. I recall seeing this on AMC at one point too. Hopefully one day I or someone will capture this.

Australian retailers JB Hi Fi and Ezydvd have quietly listed individual Blu Ray releases of Jaws 2-4 on their websites, to be released on June 2 and available for preorder now.

No clue why Australia is apparently getting them first, but see links below:

As a huge Jaws fan I have to commend you for doing this, I am one of those people that have been waiting for the rest of the movies on Blu Ray but I sort of gave up on Jaws 3D and The Revenge ever having a release as for Jaws 2 I feel like it may come at some point, good luck they really do look good in HD I’ve watched them many times on AMC and IFC I also have some HD rips somewhere, also do you have the extended version of Jaws 2 with all the deleted scenes added back in that was on TBS/USA back in the day I’ve been looking for that for years
