Free Offer (pay for shipping only): Star Wars Trilogy Definitive Laserdisc collection

I have what I think is the complete set of the Star Wars laserdisc collection in its original box, with some minor dents on it. I don’t have room for a laserdisc player any more, so I’m looking to get rid of them. I got them as a gift years ago, so it wouldn’t feel right making a profit off them. However, I’d be more than happy to send them to anyone here who would appreciate them for what they are, and is also willing to pay shipping. (I live in Washington State, just for reference if you’re figuring out a price in your head)

Please don’t just take them and resell them. I know there’s nothing I can do to stop you, but I’m just asking as a fellow human being.

If you want a player to go along with it, I’d also be happy to send that as well - it’s going to Goodwill otherwise. Though, be aware that shipping for that monstrosity will probably cost you more than the player itself would at a thrift shop if you can find one.

I'm here to kick ass and watch Star Wars, and I'm all out of ass.

Do you still have these? I’d love to get a laserdisc player. Those still go for a lot on ebay so you’d be crazy to donate one to goodwill where most people would be like “what the hell is this record player doing without a needle?” Next time, craigslist it.

I’ve seen the Definitive Collection go for around 40-80. I can’t believe people would have paid 250.00 USD back in 1993 just to see something better than vhs.

VHS used to be expensive as heck too. Read what it says in the Star Trek 2 wikipedia article:

“Paramount released The Wrath of Khan on VHS and Beta in 1983. The studio sold the VHS for $39.95, $40 below contemporary movie cassette prices. It needed to sell 60,000 tapes to make the film as profitable as other tapes, but sold 120,000. The successful experiment was credited with instigating more competitive VHS pricing, an increase in the adoption of increasingly cheaper VHS players, and an industry-wide move away from rentals to sales as the bulk of videotape revenue.”

That means it cost 80 dollars. Man, I’m glad I didn’t live in those times.

How in the world did I miss this? I’d love to have the DC box since I started collecting LD sets, but haven’t been able to justify the insane prices they go for since its been surplanted by the GOUT and most copies are rotted.
Still my SE box needs its brother on the shelf…
