I haven’t seen the Ocean’s trilogy, and don’t plan to at any point. This is about the 1960 version.
I love the Rat Pack, and I’ve always felt that Ocean’s 11 was a neat film, but I feel like there wasn’t a naturalness to the film. What would it take to make the film a little more alive. A film set in vegas with the rat pack should be the coolest thing on the planet. There were some really cool moments, but it just comes across as too clean cut for the rat pack. Obviously not much can be added, beside different music in places, and this is coming from the biggest Nelson Riddle fan on the planet. Basically things would have to be taken out. Maybe some of the more silly moments. I feel that everything starts to shape up when they actually hit Vegas, and that many of the weaker moments happen in the early scenes.
So a more streamlined Ocean’s 11. What needs to go, and what needs mo’?
