For whatever reason I’m not getting emails for updates on my subbed threads.
Anyway hi Hal! is the LoE on fanedit your v4 or still the v3?

Where and how can I download this fan edit? After I download it, is there a way to burn it to a DVD for my personal enjoyment?

A few suggestions:

Restore the underwater trip to Otah Gungah but edit length.
Restore the dialogue concerning the fact that the Jedi Code forbids more than one apprentice.
Restore all of Qui-Gon’s last words to Obi-Wan. They help to explain Obi-Wan’s change of heart.

I prefer it without all of those things. But either way, the project is completed.

In fact there is an edit version very close to scott109 taste, which can be found here:
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Phantom-Menace-Blu-ray/dp/B013JAFTS0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457370800&sr=8-3&keywords=the+phantom+menace

Bad joke put aside, I can agree on the Gungan City trip because it is naratively needed and it does add a few more minutes to the movie (but I like the very fast paced opening: not too fast, just fast enough). Your other suggestions change the nature of the improved characterization Hal has tried to achieve. Anakin is less dumb in this edit, and so are all the other characters. Restoring bad dialogues could slow the pace down a little bit as well as ruining what the faneditor is trying to do.

I agree with Octoroxs philosophy overall and really hope he maintains what Hal accomplished with the added podrace music. And especially how Hal handled the Anakin character. Hal cut the perfect amount of Anakin to make him an extremely likable, honest kid who is special and kind hearted. That’s where Hal’s edit of episode 1 really comes in the clutch. Very interested in the edit and hope to check it out from the spleen as soon as possible 😃

Just watched this today, and was rather impressed.
Jar Jar was a much better character. Your cuts turned him from a complete bumbling moron into someone who’s a little awkward, but reasonably competent.
I didn’t notice much difference in Anakin, but again the few cuts that were made helped. It was a little more believable since he’s no longer an “accidental expert star pilot.”
I really liked the added music to the pod race, especially when Anakin gets forced onto the service ramp.
The whole underwater section wasn’t missed at all. Removing it helped the flow without harming the story in any way.
I was glad to see only one instance of Boss Nass’s motorboating. I’d rather see zero, but maybe the last one was too hard to remove without a jarring cut, or left in on purpose? Either way, it wasn’t so bad since it only happens once.

The only things I didn’t like were minor frame rate nitpicks. The end credits were a little choppy, and throughout the film there was some very minor stuttering, but not enough to detract from the experience much. I watched the DVD v4; I haven’t checked out the HD version yet so I can’t say if it’s that way too.

Overall, there wasn’t a huge difference from the original, but the changes that were made helped a lot.

Thanks for leaving your impression. Seems like a fair appraisal of it. I hope that if you decide to check out the other two you give your thoughts about them as well.
I know the end credits were smushed to make room for the added editor and contributor cards, but I’d be very interested if you could elaborate on other frame rate issues with the rest.

Again, I only saw the DVD5 so far, but it seemed like there was a repeated frame every few seconds. Just a brief, barely noticeable hiccup.

That’s what I was thinking, but I haven’t had a chance to look at the HD version yet

I was finally able to watch this fan edit, and I must say that I am very impressed. However, there is some dialogue you kept which I believe should have been cut.

For example, you should have cut the first two lines of the following dialogue:

RUNE: She’s right, the Senate will never . . .
NUTE: (interrupting) It’s too late now.
RUNE: Do you think she suspect an attack?
NUTE: I don’t know, but we must move quickly to disrupt all communications down there.

Since Queen Amidala never mentions the senate in this scene, the first two lines of the above dialogue are incoherent and should have been cut in your fan edit. However, this is a minor detail. Overall, your fan edit is excellent and much preferable to the original. I especially enjoyed the fan edit’s treatment of Anakin as a deliberate hero instead of an accidental hero.

Where can I download these edits for the prequel trilogy?

Search on google, with the titles used by Hal9000.

Eh, I don’t think so. She mentions that the Chancellor (of the Senate) has sent ambassadors to command them to settle their dispute. It seems appropriate to hear one of them say something about the Senate not allowing them to do what they’re doing.

I understand that the supreme chancellor sent ambassadors to settle the trade dispute. But I was not under the impression that the senate ever explicitly authorized him to do so.

The “fanedit site” that had these incredible edits seems to have gone down. I managed to get episodes 2 and 3 from my back-up HDD but the Cloak of Deception seems to be lost in dataspace. Any ideas where I could get the 1080p of version 4? (I tried browsing through various kick ass sites but the seeds have disappeared on the edits).

Wonder if they got a cease and desist. Has been down for a very long time.

Hal, I’ve watched all three of your edits and I’m a huge fan. I have especially been enjoying your TFA thread and am looking forward to seeing what comes of it.

Quick question: I downloaded your PT off of fanedit.info last summer. Would those have been v4 of each film, or were they still v3 back then? If there is a newer version that is currently available, I’d love to get a hold of them if someone wouldn’t mind PMing them to me (fanedit.info still seems to be “coming soon”).

Thanks in advance!
