Episode VII is in the crawl, making it the seventh episode of the Star Wars Saga. They only use Star Wars The Force Awakens as the title, because 99% of the general population know it’s the sequel to Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi. There’s no need for the Roman Numeral VII, and it also shortens the title for merchandising.

A STAR WARS STORY will be attached to the other films like Rogue One and Han Solo, in order to differentiate between the Skywalker Saga Episode I-IX and these new films, that are prequels to earlier films in the timeline.

They will NOT have an EPISODE in them, but instead have A STAR WARS STORY.
