Overall, I think Return of the Jedi is good, not great. Above the prequels, below ANH, ESB and TFA. It really only has one standout scene, which is the Throne Room scene, which is one of the best scenes in the saga. A lot of other scenes are good, but none other than the aformentioned Throne Room scene live up to the scenes in the first two and seventh film. The speeder bike chase is fun, but the tention is very low and the lack of music hurts it. Everything in Jabba’s palace is good, but feels tacked on to the beginning to have an exciting opening. Han is Han Solo’d (definition: when a really interesting character from a previous film is made less fun and interesting to watch (see: xenomorphs from Aliens compared to Alien)), and Leia is sidelined. Luke is at his greatest, but most of the supporting cast isn’t as good as in Empire. I think the biggest problem in the film is the tone. It goes from dark and tense to happy and lighthearted in one scene, which takes away any emotion you may have. Overall, it is good, but I don’t put it in the same league as the first two (and the seventh).
