The speeder bike arrival stands out, as does the boba fett escape (fantastic fan trailer though).

You really think so ? I don’t see the point in showing Luke sooner on a speeder bike. There is nothing wrong with Luke’s first apparition in the theatrical cut (it’s among the best shots of the movie). The Boba fett escape is quite cool, but it clearly does not belong in this movie, because he’s nowhere to be seen in the rest of the movie. I wouldn’t advise you to add these two scenes in your cut.

About the SE material, towne32 is right: every single special effect shot has been enhanced in 1997-2004-2011, especially the ships and the Death Star, you should consider to use them (well, not the 2004 light-sabers, which are lame). The picture quality (not saying the colors) is very good on the blu ray edition. I might be the only one to think so 😃

@ towne32
Yeah the 1997/2004/2011 Sarlacc does not look as good as it should (still hoping for a 4k upgrade, next year maybe), but the 1983 version is really lame. The SE adds a little tension and it fuels even better the swashbuckling dimension of this very long Jabba opening. All this opening has very low narrative value (Han is saved, there is a little tension about Luke being dressed as a Sith Lord: that all), so the main point of this mess is swashbuckling fun, “Jedi of the Caribbean: Jabba’s Wall Trophy”. So yeah, I like the Sarlacc/octopus thing. I understand why the majority hates it, though.

edit: hum… I still haven’t watched Harmy’s 2.5, but when I see this (https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM9HqKhDhHT1O6CDfGmH44R1AduXqfpFjOqiMHVX3OnWusb-fZ_RoPKjAcO8Jcgsg/photo/AF1QipMlrcSX_6-1d515dEzv8r-yk_jJP05dbmDwenkv?key=blBhRV9DNmsxaVlMdUpFYjYxN3FISk5Ma2xfQ293) or this (https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM9HqKhDhHT1O6CDfGmH44R1AduXqfpFjOqiMHVX3OnWusb-fZ_RoPKjAcO8Jcgsg/photo/AF1QipMg8_-82h5Y56avPh2KZI9nL2kp70hlRNZNHByQ?key=blBhRV9DNmsxaVlMdUpFYjYxN3FISk5Ma2xfQ293) or this (https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM9HqKhDhHT1O6CDfGmH44R1AduXqfpFjOqiMHVX3OnWusb-fZ_RoPKjAcO8Jcgsg/photo/AF1QipNUYOcL3sJZYfRRbTTL4hnBNmxQKHIpJz1C_COT?key=blBhRV9DNmsxaVlMdUpFYjYxN3FISk5Ma2xfQ293) I think his version is better that the blu ray for (at least) a few shots (what happened to the stars on the other releases ?).
