Just a simple cover
I mean, because honestly if you wanted ANYTHING, I could just change a cover I already have made for ROTJ so that, on the top of the front, it says 35mm LPP GRINDHOUSE EDITION" in small, unobtrusive print instead of “ORIGINAL THEATRICAL EDITION”, and on the back at the bottom it says the word “Grindhouse” in tiny letters where it usually says “Despecialized”.
Or I could just do the latter (change the tiny text on the back), and that’s it. That is, if you wanted anything.
So tell me what you want. I know what you want is for someone to make a cover for themselves, make their own design decisions about it, and then share it with you. Well, you can’t have that yet because no one had made it yet. And if someone is making it for themselves alone, then they are in no hurry to finish it for the purpose of sharing. Plus, I don’t have the Grindhouse Editions, nor would I burn them if I had, since I use Plex Media Server for watching my movies.
So if you want something soon, and you can’t do it yourself, you either have to wait for someone to eventually get around to sharing something–which, as I’ve discovered with Fall of the Jedi covers, could very well be never–or you could be part of the design process and say what you’re interested in it looking like.

Just a simple cover
Well if you want simple, I can do simple:
…lol.
I can do better, but you have to give me a bit.

Threw together some covers for my cousin. I know they have their issues, but it looks fine for him since he’s not nitpicky on the details. I really liked the TFA-style title text, though.
JEDIT: The issues I refer to are things such as:
- The posters I used for the front covers are made such that using them here cuts Vader off above the neck at the top of 3 of the covers. It works out better for the Q2 Episode 3 though, because the suit was cut from the movie.
- The poster I used for ROTS was actually unfinished, as it said “Attack of the Clones” instead. I fixed it, but the only fonts that I could find cut the very top of some letters in the subtitle off. I don’t know why they did that, but I couldn’t easily correct it.
- The Emperor is not in Ep 4.
But my cousin probably won’t examine it as closely as that. Next time, I’ll use a better poster, and create my own TFA-style titles so that I can position the posters properly.
Looks great! 😃 Could I get a link to these?
Sure!
Link dosen’t work! 😦
Oh snap. I’ll fix that…

Happy to give you a bit

Any way you could do covers for the fanedit HAL9000 and L8wrtr?! 😄
I’ll make some, I guess. I like L8wrtr’s “official” covers, but they’re only sized for DVD, I think. I’ve been looking for ages to find the original source for L8’s Dawn of the Empire cover (without the subtitle text) so I could use it for Q2’s, but to no avail thus far.
I do have some OT, Q2 and HAL 3-disc-case cover art on a recent page here.
Just know that if I’m making TFA covers for Hal’s and L8wrtr’s, then that means I have to fix the poster issues I pointed out. The alternative is for each different PT set to look exactly the same except for the subtitle name and the version text at the top, which is kind of stupid because if you have multiple sets then there’s nothing to distinguish them.
Therefore, making 6 (and then perhaps 12, as I would probably then fix the issues with the Q2 and OT covers) would take a while. More than a weekend, for sure.

It does. It says “35mm Grindhouse Edition by HARMY” on the back at the bottom with the rest of the film credits, and it says “35mm LPP GRINDHOUSE” on the top of the front (twice, one in sepia and another offset in black), with a drawing of a strip of 35mm film behind it.
The front cover is primarily Video Collector’s, but I “posterized” it and “colorized” it to a sepia tone because VC probably wouldn’t want me sharing a 95% unaltered version of his cover. And besides, the style fits better for a grindhouse version anyway.
[jedit:] The back was originally Coov’s, but the elements from his have been more or less recomposited and altered, so it’s more of a template at this point. So… does doing this make me the George Lucas of cover art?[/jedit]
Now, arguably a 1983 Return of the Jedi poster would look better than an SE-style one, but you said you wanted one fast, and that’s the one front cover I have that I wouldn’t be recycling from a previous Despecialized cover of mine.
So that cover is what you get because it looks cool and I found it fast.
JEDIT: Oh… I just realized you might have meant the front cover from the “simple” goofy mspaint cover I made. No, that was just a joke. (But if anyone wants to use it, feel free because it is full size.)

Something new…
full versions to come.
We’re these ever made available? Would love them for my DE-ED set!

Yes, they are available. I cannibalized the back of them to use in several of my covers. His profile says he’s been active recently, so I suggest you should PM him a request for them.

Ok, cool. Shot him a PM!

I guess I’ll be the first to throw my hat in the ring for TFA.

Hey There,
Heres an update of my custom set. Finally got the positioning right to fit the covers perfectly in the 15mm Criterion Blu-ray boxes and was able to track down some higher resolution art for the back. As for the inside/reverse, I printed them with the Noriyoshi Ohrai collage style prints. All in all, pretty happy with the results. Hope you enjoy.
Wow! Great cover art! I would love a PM with these. Thanks for your efforts on this.
These are so perfect! I would also love to get a PM of these. Amazing work, thank you!
Tried my hand out designing slip covers for 3-disc Blu-Ray and DVD case for the Despecialized edition trilogy:

I just discovered your covers and I absolutely love them! Can they still be downloaded so I can print my own?
