It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of an era: My bf is totally liquidating his pretty epic Star Wars stash after 30+ years as a collector living in LA with access to premiers, etc. He has everything from press kits, golden tickets, reel to reel and vinyl soundtracks, rings, stamps, posters, comics, jigsaw puzzle, Yoda bank, cards, miniatures, you name it. Here’s the link to the full listing and his contact info should anyone be curious… http://ventura.craigslist.org/clt/5465057580.html

Those VHS prices are very high and the vinyl is absolutely outrageous. I know we’re in the midst of a ‘vinyl comeback’, but that means that collectors know to go to discogs.com and look and average/median going rates for every pressing of every album ever made.

Example: https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/310752496 (sealed RoTJ, not just ‘never played’).

I still think you can make great money off of them, but it wouldn’t hurt to be more realistic. Or, if there’s something incredible about the specific pressing, make that clear and don’t just hope that people will throw money at the word vinyl.

Thanks for your feedback 😃 I’ll send him to the website - that’s helpful. Though, I think the things he’s priced high are more priced by what they’re worth to him at the moment as he’s so close to them and would rather hang on to 'em if they aren’t worth very much to someone else. Especially the music as he used to be a professional musician and deeply appreciates film scores.

Yes, it can be disappointing to see the difference between perceived/sentimental value and market value. But market value is what matters if the stuff absolutely needs to be sold.

I think it’s a collection that people will be interested in for the right price, and it would do much better broken up into eBay sales.
