Man, this is very depressing. First Poita and now this…

I did notice that the “disbanded” post mentioned not releasing anything under the “Team Negative 1” name anymore. Maybe that just means that a few people in the team left and the remaining people will release things under a different name.

What a blow to the community. I just hope everything is OK with the team & former members. I’m glad they’re still going to be working on these last few releases of the Star Wars trilogy though. Kinda piqued my interest as to the unethical means that the prints were obtained. However, aren’t all film prints illegal since they’re property of the studios? I know there are private collectors out there I’m just not too privy to this.

Well, technically (and someone else mentioned it) every 35mm print of ANH belongs to Fox, so…

I suspect someone got a C&D because word about the Silver Screen Edition got around too fast and it was traced back to this site.

Wow, a week ago we were at the highest ever here on OT and now… 😦 I really do hope people will continue on their efforts for preserving the films in best possible quality, and good luck to them.

I agree with that suspicion.
On their starwarstrilogy page, it did say that “there will be no more new releases under that name .”

Perhaps, another group will continue -1’s work.

Does anybody know what display settings should be used to view the 35mm edition? The ANH restoration is very special and I’m sure its amazing, but it would be great to see it as they see it with a display calibration that they use. Any ideas? Thanks!

Bullshit. They are absolutely not disbanding because they’ve all of a sudden decided all their work is done and it just so happened to be the same day they were banned.

I don’t know exactly what happened, but I’m not buying this crap for a second.

^I second this. Also, they didn’t even finish the preservation project. There’s still a ton of stuff to be done to the SSE for it to be considered “finished”, the same goes for ESB Grindhouse, and they didn’t even do ROTJ. We want the Tech finished! Who’s gonna do it without the team?
