“Starting today I’ll post a few pages from my original StarWars script each day leading up to a big announcement.”
I would bet money that the big announcement is a restoration of the OOT for the 40th anniversary.
Let’s consider all the mounting evidence:
- Lucas’s friend John Landis claims to know that Disney is planning a release after rumors circulate for some time.
- Mike Verta says that he is scheduled to meet with Disney and Fox executives to preview and discuss his restoration in relation to a possible official release.
- Another restoration team appears to have already completed work on a restoration as they have shown it off in demos.
- Team Negative 1’s Silver Screen Edition makes big news over the last day or two all over the internet. Disney and Fox now have even more pressure to quickly put out an official release to counter bootlegs, same reason the GOUT was released.
- To lead up to a “big announcement” a year before the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, Peter Mayhew decides to share his draft of the original film from 40 years ago of all things. This isn’t about something new, it’s about the original.
Yeah, I would be far more surprised if it doesn’t happen now. I’ve learned not to get my hopes up regarding Star Wars in the past, but now I can’t help it. I’m getting more and more confident it’s going to happen very soon.
