The DVD5s already have pretty heavy mpeg2 compression, so using handbrake to compress them further is a really bad idea - just use handbrake to make re-encodes directly from the MKV or AVCHD - you can set the resolution to the exact resolution of your tablet’s screen and you’ll get much much better quality results with the same or less effort.
As for Mega, the problem with that is that it limits the amount of data you can upload, plus I get much slower upload speed to it.
It does occur to me that the 50gb free version of Mega may be quite limiting when taking your potential usage into account, Harmy!
I know ripping from the VIDEO_TS folder isn’t optimal, but when I attempt to re-encode the larger versions, the resulting file is usually corrupted, or the process itself bombs my Mac. The tablet rips are used primarily on my iPhone 6, while the VIDEO_TS will go straight to a DVD-5 for viewing on an old Panasonic 13" CRT television.
That being said, I haven’t attempted to rip to a screen-specific resolution before. I’ll give it a shot.
