Haha. Yes, it is a very fine Jedi outfit. Maybe the top half had some super awesome Jedi sequins.

Awesome. Isn’t it ace finding out all these things? Thanks Harmy 😃

Wait, so is the BD/MKV version of Jedi 2.5 completely done and out there in the wild? I know where to find it and everything if it is but I’m at work so I can’t check, and the thread title makes it seem like it’s still the AVCHD version, and every time I try to go back a page, or go to the first page, it just brings me to the last page again.

Yeah, I’m that guy now.

It’s on kat cr

I don’t know what this means. I just use Paradox/JDownloader/Uloz.

It means he won’t shut the fuck up like we keep telling him to do.

Exactly not what he asked.

So yeah, ROTJ 2.5 MKV is out.

Fucking awesome. Will be downloading it tonight. SOMEONE PUT FRINK ON THE HORN AND TELL HIM I WILL BE DOWNLOADING IT TONIGHT.

Way ahead of you. Do you want pizza? I already ordered some.

The thread titles can no longer be edited it seems. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next forum software update 😃

I know you can’t post links, but can anyone point me in the direction of SW & ESB GRINDHOUSE Editions? I’m assuming RotJ is pending…?

Yes, it’s pending.

The other two are on myspleen and probably tehparadox. I’m pretty sure SW was on public trackers, too. If ESB was at one point, I would be surprised if the public has kept it seeded this long. Both are on usenet.

OK. Thanks. I’ll check Paradox. What are they exactly? Are they like the Tarantino film with missing frames and scratches etc?

Frames are missing at the ends/starts of reels, but it’s not too noticeable (they are at scene changes of course). Yes. ESB especially looks like an old, worn film (because it is). SW had a lot of cleanup, but there are lots of small scratches and dirt if you look closely. There’s plenty more info in Team Negative’s threads.

This is amazing! May I ask why the ROTJ v2.5 file size is 19.7GB? I just want to watch the film itself and I curious why the files so huge

It’s encoded to be BD25-compliant, so the file size is huge because it takes advantage of the space on a 25GB disc.

Interesting… It seems to me that the majority of people watching it would be doing so digitally (since it’s a web file). Will he be releasing it in a smaller digital format?

I convert the mkv file to m4v using hand break. The files are still 19GB but my AppleTV 3&4 can handle it so the movies look amazing on my 50" plasma.

I also create versions at 3500kbps so I can throw them on my iPad for when I travel.

Ah. It’s TN-1’s? Already downloaded SW, saw the huge scratch at the start over R2 and deleted it. I’ll stick with Harmy’s.

The RoTJ isn’t their’s, but yeah, sounds like 35mm prints are not for you.

I don’t mind them…if it’s the cinema or it’s the only version available, in in a High-Def, Clear quality age I’d want to see the best available. I’m not a purist.

Yes, it’s really great that they are two types of projects that are in no real way competing with one another. And obviously the benefits from collaboration are enormous.

I can agree with this. One day I’d like to get myself a projector and check out the film print versions, that might be cool. But for normal viewing, Despecialized all the way.

Very well put. Back in the day, I had the Cowclops LD rips, and checked in on the X0 Project daily. I never dreamed I’d have two awesome HD versions to choose from!

Harmy, I just want to say thanks for everything you’ve done. I briefly checked out ROTJ 2.5 last night, and it’s amazing. Lapti Nek has finally been fully restored. And the work you did to replace the blurry reel puts the official Blu Ray to shame. Thanks!

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

What are the grindhouse editions? (I’ve never heard of this term before)

Grindhouse theaters were often of fairly low quality so these rough 35mm scans of ESB and ROTJ are titled ‘grindhouse’ versions due to their gritty, lower quality.

Someone correct me if my incredibly basic grindhouse cinema knowledge is wrong!

Extremely excited to watch ROTJ 2.5. I’m old enough to have probably only seen the originals before the edits once or twice. Now I can do it again, and probably show my kids these one day. (Unless Disney really starts pulling some strings…)

Thanks Harmy. Simply Amazing!

Haha! Indeed! We have come a long way since those days!

Hi,

I am a noobie here but I just want to thank Harmy for his amazing work on this film. Please ignore the haters on Facebook because I am sure that most people including myself really appreciate the hard work that you have done to bring us the Despecialized versions of these films. I have waited years for something like this and you have delivered sir.

Also, I find it humorous that some folks in the comments want quick direct links to the films. I am a noob and with a little research, all your questions are quickly answered through reading previous posts or just simply reading the ultimate introductory guide.

The film is amazing looking overall and is a very enjoyable experience! It brings back so much memories. I wanted to point out but I am sure you all are already aware that there is a small white speck or scratch as Luke is running to the other side of the Rancor pit right before he picks up the skull. It does not bother me at all and forgive me if anyone has already pointed that out. I did not get an exact time frame for it but I just wanted to mention it…but again it is not a complaint. Thank you so much Harmy and I look forward to your future 3.0 releases!

Since bad new members accuse us of being awful to new members, I’m making a point of recognizing good new members. You’re a good new member. Welcome!

As far as pointing out issues with Harmy’s release, there’s a separate quality control thread for that. It helps keep them easily found, as well as preventing the illusion from being spoiled for people who don’t want to know every seam in the film. But as far as the 35mm shots go, he know’s there’s still some damage and it’ll be improved for later ones.

Harmy made a good point that 35mm transfers shown on TV sometimes have a bit of scratches and dirt remaining. Even something as new as Scream 2, which was on TV the other day, had noticeable scratches and dirt here and there.

I’ll take scratches and dirt over waxy DNR and “modern” color timing any day of the week, twice on Sunday, though!
